Several months back (or longer) I put together a list of John Wayne's Home Addresses.
I wanted to follow it up with The John Ford Tour. I hope you like it.

THE JOHN FORD TOUR
FROM PORTLAND TO PALM SPRINGS
1880 - 1973
PORTLAND, MAINE
1880 - 1916
53 CENTER STREET
JOHN FEENEY (Ford's father) and his family lived here. He worked for the gas
company.
1894
John Ford is born on February 1. His father runs a bar, which was near Five Corners
meeting place called The Garham's Corner, which was the heart of Munjay Hill
until World War 2. Today, the site where Feeney's bar (listed as a restaurent) is now
a vacant lot.
Fenney didn't like to own the homes he lived in in Portland proper. He preferred to
rent, paying between $15,00 to $20.00 a month. The houses were all alike - three or
four story tenement flats on narrow but deep lots. Many had yards big enough for a
large vegetable garden.
FIRST STREET - PEAKS ISLAND
Feeney bought a simple house as a real estate investment for close to $800. This
was the family home until World War II.

Ford was earning $35.00 a week as an assistent director.
His roommate was Hoot Gibson.

Lived here paying $50.00 a month rent.

2233 BEACHWOOD DRIVE - HOLLYWOOD
He rented a two - story stucco house.

6860 ODIN STREET - HOLLYWOOD
In October Ford paid $14.000 for this nice looking stone
built house with leaded windows, that sat on a hill in the back of the Hollywood Bowl. He and his wife lived here for
thirty - four years, until 1953 when it was claimed by the
city under eminent domain because the property was needed for parking for the Bowl.

Ford bought this house that had been previously owned
by William Wyler and Frank Lloyd (at different times)

OLD PROSPECT TRAIL - PALM SPRINGS
John and Mary moved here, where he would live until his
death.
HOLY CROSS CEMETERY - CULVER CITY
John and Mary Ford are buried here, near his brother,
Francis.
