To all,
Judging by the number of views of another thread, I'm sure by now that the name Ermal Williamson is familiar to many of you :) .
I originally came upon his web site because someone on the John Wayne Message board posted his web address a couple of months ago, in regard to a replica of the Red River D belt buckle that he had for sale (which I subsequently purchased :D ).
I became interested in his organization, Duke's Hollywood Cowboys, and discovered that, among other things, they celebrate John Wayne's birthday every year in cowboy attire. This year that celebration will take place in Tombstone, AZ over Memorial Day weekend.
I am not personal friends with Ermal, and have had only the briefest of phone conservations with him, regarding the belt buckle I ordered. Last night I took it upon myself to e-mail him regarding the discussion that has been taking place recently about him.
He visited the message board, and sent us an e-mail with the following information, which we thought might be of interest to y'all:
"I'd like to give a big "thank you" to my supporters. No need for me to defend myself, but if it will help, the Wayne family chose me to do the Coors Lite beer commercials - not just one - but six commecials, starting with the general from "Cast a Giant Shadow" which is not a cowboy film. Yep, I did the commercials.
"I will be picking up an award next month in Las Vegas as being the BEST MALE IMPERSONATOR (John Wayne), awarded by over 400 peers."
"For public notice, I'll be performing in Branson, MO July through November
at the Owens Theater as John Wayne and Gary Cooper."
"I urge everyone to give generously to the John Wayne Cancer Institute."
It would appear that this man is serious, and taken seriously by others in his profession and by the viewing public (nobody has a five month gig if they don't do a good job).
So . . . just wanting to make sure everyone is aware of some of the facts, straight from the horse's mouth. ;)
