One suggestion I have is a movie club; someone else has probably already thought of this though..... Someone picks a movie for us to watc during a say one week period, then we discuss it. Like a book club

I think it is a really good idea Mrs.M,i would deffinetly love to participate in it.

I think it would be great because of the amount of knowledge of some of these members. I would love to watch a movie and then let some of the really educated members fill me in on lots of trivia, discuss acting styles, all kinds of stuff.

Sounds like a great idea! Any suggestions as to how we decide which movie? Does someone want to take the lead on this? Mrs. McLintock, how about you? Any particular movie you'd like to start with? Maybe a suggestion could be made around Thursday, which would give us the weekend to watch the movie, then discussion could start - Sunday evening or Monday. I'm just throwing out suggestions here, nothing is cast in stone.

Anybody else have thoughts?

That sounds like a good plan; somewhere I saw a listing of TV schedules that might be helpful assuming most of the posters have AMC, TMC, Western channel

of course, many of us have the titles on DVD, VHS.

I like the idea, and like to suggest the first movie this weekend. Being St. Patrick's Day today, I think it would be fitting to view and review in a discussion the movie, The Quiet Man. It would be great to discuss it on Sunday on, and well that is my discussion. Mrs. McLintock, since you suggested this, maybe you could help with the ground rules. And the dead line on this topic.

Tell me what you think and let's get started.

By the way, y'all were robbed this year. We need a whole other thread on dissolving the BCS.

I'm just happy to get through the season without a loss. Someone had to be left out, and it just happen to us. That's water under the bridge, and we'll wait and see about next season.

Ironically and coincidentally, while you were making your last post, we were watching The Quiet Man, having finished a late dinner of corned beef and cabbage. We hadn't seen if for quite a while. It was the 50th anniversary collectors edition DVD, which was chuck full of great extras. We won't say much more here - we'll save further discussion for Monday.

BTW, a belated Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all!

Actually, we did go a little further with this idea, but not much - check the Movie Club Discussion (http://www.dukewayne.com/thread1320.html) thread. I'm not sure what happened with it. I guess we need someone to really take the reins and run with this thing, in terms of actively suggesting a movie each week (or month), and then getting the discussion going in a timely manner. I know for my family right now, we have three kids in sports (that's the potential of 6 games week, but we never see that many because of conflicts). Anyway, we're not watching too many movies lately.

So I think that's why it faltered - no one really in charge to keep it going.

I still think it is a good idea, I'm just not in a position right now to make it happen.
