I noticed some topics are "pinned". Most site refer to them as "stickies" or something of the like. Are they called "pinned " here because of that line from El Dorado where Duke looks at Mitchum and says, "I'm lookin' at a tin star with a drunk pinned on it"?

The reason some of the topics are pinned is because as a moderator, I find something on the board that is of interest and we place them so the others will see it before the common topics. The other moderators may have other reasons, but that is why I place some of the topics in the pinned area.

Hope this helps.

Another important reason for pinning a topic, is if the subject matter is of a kind that comes up fairly often, it keeps it at the top all the time, so we don't lose track of it, and folks don't have to search for it.

As to the term "pinned" I think that is just coincidental, but Kevin would be the one who could answer that. The Mrs. informs me that she is on another message board that does indeed use the "stickie" designation.

As Hondo explained, it is at the moderator/administrator's discretion. Any input is helpful and appreciated.

I hope that helps to answer your question.
