View Full Version : just for fun!
twobtrue2johnwayne January 12th, 2003, 06:07 PM This may be kinda weird, but every John Wayne movie we watch we count the times he either "flipped" a cigerette or threw a tin cup, or the times he said " That'll be the day" like in the "The Searchers". We still argue about how many times he throws down a cigerette when he walking " a good stretch of the legs" walk he "The Quiet Man". If anyone ever asks me if there was someone you ever wanted to have lunch with it was John Wayne.
LibertyV January 12th, 2003, 07:48 PM lol, never thought of it before but he does usually throw a cig down before he goes walking off.
Great observation!!
Ok, has anyone else noticed noticed something he does frequently??
Vicki :)
Dukette January 16th, 2003, 08:16 AM How Fun. I never thought to do that. I just thought of How many times does he swipe the rim of his stetson in his western movies. Seems like I remember him sliding his fingers from left to right on the rim of his hat. Like he is wiping his brow but it is his stetson to make some point. Am I imagining this?
Enjoying a chat, Dukette
chester7777 January 31st, 2003, 01:24 AM Speaking of hats, does anyone know where to get hats like the ones John Wayne wore in his movies? I've been hankerin' for one for quite a while. My daughter bought me a leather vest like the one he wore in several movies, and I've really enjoyed wearing it around and having people say I look like John Wayne - LOL. Now . . . if only I had his acting ability . . .
. . . and they were still making westerns . . . and I had a barrel of $$$$$ . . .
Cheerio,
Chester
Robbie May 17th, 2003, 02:20 PM Yea good observation heres an observatiion ive noticed when somebody says somthing to John especially a lady he does something funny with is eyes its very hard to explain, its like they are becoming deeper it could mean that he is feeling akward. An example of this is when Ben Edwards tells John that Lucy has a boyfriend and kisses him.
And also when someone punches him and sends him flying to the ground he always looks really surprised.

Robbie May 21st, 2003, 09:03 AM Here is somthing else I have noticed the Duke do a lot in his westerns especially in the 60s and 70s. When he is about to confront the bad guys in the final shootout or even in the films last big action scene he usually wears his pink shirt.

AEC23 May 21st, 2003, 11:16 PM Hey Robbie! What about the purple shirt he wears in Rooster Cogburn with a pink bandana? Have you ever noticed that before?
Robbie May 23rd, 2003, 11:22 AM Yo AEC23
The pink shirt symbolises Johns purity and wholesomeness, tradionalism and mystic Rooster Cogburn is a drunkard and a little dishonest thats why he doesnt wear the pink shirt.
So if the shirt fits wear it :D

Northerner May 31st, 2003, 11:05 PM Robbie,..............Robbie.............Wow!
Wholesomeness and Purity?........Wow!
Northerner.
Robbie June 2nd, 2003, 06:18 PM Well Northerner
One has to look for the deeper meaning in his movies he was a very complex person, just like in the undefeated he wore a faded pink shirt because he knew that the movie would fade, I cant think of another actor who would get away with wearing a pink shirt!!!
B)
Northerner June 3rd, 2003, 01:20 AM You are corect Robbie.
He also got away with walking like he had a pant load for 40 years. Nobody else could have pulled THAT off.
Northerner ;)
chester7777 June 3rd, 2003, 01:55 AM Robbie,
Regarding the "pink" shirt, the truth is that it was a maroon shirt that had faded from many washings. I just bought a blue bib shirt that is a little bright yet, so I want it to fade a little.
