While updating my wesite, I found that John Wayne has guest stared on quite a few shows. A lot are not even listed on IMDB. You can check them out as I have provided links to them.

My site page John Wayne on TV (http://www.angelfire.com/zine/timetraveler/jw_tv.html), just click it.

One that I have been looking for is The Dean Martins Celebrity Roast. I remember as a kid watching this show and one guest they roasted was John Wayne. Haven't seen it in years but if I remember right, the comedians crack joke at Wayne that will make your side split! this show will show you how much humour John Wayne really has. I wouldn't recommend this one for those who take John Wayne too seriously (and you know who I mean ;) ). But heres the link to the Dean Martins Celebrity Roast (http://www.deanmartinroast.com) website. Enjoy!

That's good information! I've never seen that Dean Martin piece. I know of two JW appearences in the Dean Martin Show, but I've never came across this one. So thanks for providing the list. Do you actually sell the tapes yourselves or did you just provide the link?
You might want to add to your list John Wayne's appearence in the Christmas Special, I think that was in 1977 or 78, it's available on video. And "On Board with the Duke", lots of private footage from the Wild Goose. What I'm still looking for is the show with Goldie Hawn in which JW appears in a bunny costume (and got chewed out by John Ford for doing that - maybe he was right! So I'd like to find out).

itdo!

The Christmas Special you refer to is Perry Como's Christmas Special 1978. It was the last special the Duke would appear in before his death. I'v heard its out on VHS or DVD but I have not found it listed yet at any DVD internet websites. As soon as I find it, it will be listed.

The furry bunny suit with Goldie Hawn, is on the list. It's "The Best of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In", available on DVD. John Wayne does several cameo apperances.

"One Board with the Duke" is not available on DVD or VHS yet, as I have not found it. When it does become available, I will be glad to post it for everyone.

I have emailed the website for the Dean Martin roast to see if the John Wayne episode is available and for sale. I'll let everyone know the answer as soon as I get it.

It is!
I'm looking at the On Board with the Duke tape right now, it was released by "Invader Productions", if that helps any. Bought it about 2 years ago. Perry Como's Christmas Special is out, too: released by "Haber Video".

John Wayne was interviewed by Michael Parkinson a famous British chatshow host. Does anyone know if this interview is on on vcr/dvd and if it is any good.

Robbie,

There was also the Barbra Walters interview of John Wayne. I haven't found it out yet though. As soon as I find it, I will let you know.

itdo!

The reason I said both are not out yet is because"One Board with the Duke" & "Perry Como's Early American Christmas" (the right title) both were available in the past on VHS. Currently though, they are not in production for sale. I don't doubt that you have the titles, but as of current date, no one carries them. I didn't find them at any websites that sells VHS, and Movies Unlimited might carry the old copies if they have any. I prefer to list movies that are in production. I may change that for my site though as most are die hard Wayne fans and would want them. Thanks!

Hey All,

I just got back from vacation, and wanted to share something, I think all of you seen, but I haven't read anything about it. I saw last Sunday, (May 18th) the A&E biography on Duke. It's the best I've seen about his life, and they had it for 2 hours. I've seen others, but they only show about an hour. It's great to see the Duke and all about his life. They do offer it on VHS as www.A&E.com, for I think $19.95. I am more interested in the DVD version, and will wait. Don't won't to buy anymore VHS's if I can help it, and know it will be out on DVD. Hope you all got to see it.

A&E had classic movie actors week and showed stars, Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Humphry Borgart, and Duke. What a class of classic movie legends, and the best one was Duke (of course). :D

Hope to hear from all of you about comments about the biography on A&E.

Later,

I have seen this biography you are talking about Hondo. It's one of the best yet. I recorded mine off of A&E. Like you, I will only purchase it when I comes out on DVD. I have checked A&E website and Amazon.com. All A&E Biographies are VHS sofar. I have emailed them to see when they might put John Waynes on DVD format. No response sofar, but I have my fingers crossed.

I'll let you know what they say.

Just a note for everyone who tried the link Baron provided and wanted to buy the Dean Martin show with a special appearence by JW. There are several volumes that company is selling, and because you'd probably would like to purchase just the one with JW in it, I asked Baron how he got his copy: Here's his response - along with a message that he won't be on the board for awhile because he has his computer fixed:

I have sent the company that same question that you are asking me. They said
that Vol. 2 is the one that John Wayne appears on. The first video is the
introductory video, then you will recieve one per monthe at regular price.
The next sent after the introducotry video is the one that John Wayne
appears on

Most of the specials you are talking about have been available at one time or another from I believe Critics Choice. They had quite a few of his specials. I haven't gotten a catelog in a couple of years so I don't know if they still offer it.

itdo,

Just as an inquiry. The second volume of the Dean Martin roast, is this the one where they are roasting Duke? Maybe I should ask, if Duke was ever roasted on the Dean Martin show. I saw a lot of those roasts back when they orginally aired, but never remember if Duke was one of them.

I don't have the tape yet myself - as Baron is saying: it's the second volume in which JW makes his appearence.

John Wayne was not roasted on the Dean Martin shows. He opted not to be because of his relationship with Pat Stacey. The roasters got out of hand sometimes and he felt they may approach the issue. He did appear as a roaster on the roast of Dean Martin himself I think. I would love to have that tape.

Thanks,

Cppcpa
