Popol Vuh July 8th, 2005, 08:08 AM Hi Hondo.
Your list for the UK isn't 100% correct. Did you go to the Amazon.co.uk site? I don't have a completely updated list since I have bought nearly all the movies available in Europe that I have found.
5,6,9,13,15,30,32,39,40 are available on Amazon. Hope I didn't miss any.
4. The Cowboys has been released in the UK but has never been available at Amazon. You can get it at other online stores though. I know nothing avbout this edition since I have bought a Scandinavian release.
In addition to this there has been a release of a big box set from Universal which I have bought which contains:
7,23,24,25,26,28,31,33,34,36,37,38,42,43,45,46,47, 48,50
Universal has been releasing a lot of the movies from the box set as standlone editions. Many of these are on my first list.
That leaves us with this of movies not available in the UK in any form.
1. McQ (1974)
2. The Train Robbers (1973)
3. Cancel My Reservation (1972)
8. How the West Was Won (1962)
10. The Barbarian and the Geisha (1958)
11. I Married a Woman (1958)
12. Legend of the Lost (1957)
14. The Wings of Eagles (1957)
16. Blood Alley (1955)
17. The Sea Chase (1955)
18. The High and the Mighty (1954)
19. Hondo (1953)
20. Island in the Sky (1953)
21. Trouble Along the Way (1953)
22. Big Jim McLain (1952)
27. Desert Command (1946)
29. They Were Expendable (1945)
35. Reunion in France (1942)
41. Lady for a Night (1942)
44. A Man Betrayed (1941)
49. Allegheny Uprising (1939)
To complicate things even more for region 2 buyers some of the movies from the box set and a few more have been released in Spain, Italy, France and/or Germany.
The movies I have found that are not available in the UK in either box sets or standalone editions are
McQ
The Train Robbers
Blood Alley
The Sea Chase
Allegheny Uprising
The four first ones I think have just been released and there are at least a couple of editions. I have not bought any of these since I still have a few movies left that I haven't seen yet. Besides they may very well be released in the UK soon and it is a bit more simple and cheaper to buy from the UK.
The Allegheny Uprising has been released in Italy over a year ago. This one I have.
Since I don't really have a problem with ordering region 1 movies my personal choices would be:
10. The Barbarian and the Geisha (1958)
21. Trouble Along the Way (1953)
22. Big Jim McLain (1952)

Hondo Duke Lane July 8th, 2005, 04:07 PM Popol Vuh,
I appreciate you correcting me. I am limited in what is listed and Amazon.com was my source. Maybe you could help me out on a list for our UK members. I do understand that other places in Europe might have different releases, but this is what I found in the UK. I figured that there was errors, but I wanted to give it a try and see where the chips fall.
So maybe you can get me or post the information on this message board. And I hope others will list theirs as well.
Cheers B)

Hi Hondo.
My previous post is as detailed as I can get. The reason I asked you if you went to the British Amazon site is that you seemed to be missing some of the newest releases. Most of them from Universal. If you enter any Amazon sites you will see links to their other international sites at the bottom of the page. Anyway the link to the UK site is http://www.amazon.co.uk. As for the other sites I have been to I found them by using google. Because of all the different languages spoken in Europe it seems to be far more difficult to get a complete list over what is available. Obviously if they are to release a movie here in Scandinavia they have to puy in subtitles. I have even found movies in bargain bins (no John Wayne movies) and at gas stations here in Norway that I haven't found on any online stores. Not even those that operate in Norway. I got a kick out of finding out what was available in different countries about a year ago but I haven't bothered to keep this updated.
Your list will be correct if you remove 5,6,9,13,15,30,32,39 and 40 from it as far as I can see. That is if you only want to buy single movies and only in the UK. As for me I knew that I would want as many as possible so I figured it would be cheaper and easier to go for this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002W1ALO/qid=1120861561/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_27_3/202-5132031-2907815)
This is where the rest of the movies come in except the two I mentioned in my previous post. Quite an investment but I knew I would be to weak to not buy them eventually.

Stumpy July 8th, 2005, 06:09 PM Here are the Duke's movies I would most like to see on disc, more or less in order. As far as I know, these aren't currently available on commercially-recorded DVD in the U.S.
"Fort Apache
The Three Godfathers
The Barbarian and the Geisha
The Wings of Eagles
Tycoon
Pittsburgh
The Shepherd of the Hills
The Long Voyage Home"
I have some of these on disc because a couple of friends on this board recorded and sent me copies, for which I'm very grateful.
nathan_brittles July 9th, 2005, 05:28 PM I've already mentioned Fort Apache, but I will just add:
Hondo
McLintock!
The Shepherd of the Hills
3 Godfathers
and I will mention The Big Trail (letterbox). I know Fox released the full screen version, but I really wish they would release the widescreen. I watched this on FMC last week and really loved it.
These additions with what I already have would make my life complete!
