My sentiments exactly Mopargary!

What a great day for a great man, father, actor, and true American. John Wayne, a man for all seasons, and then some. This will be a day to remeber always, and forever. Thanks for those who only know of him after his death and love him as if you knew him always (age 24 years or less).

We know him for his dedication, and love of country. I can only thank God for letting us be aquainted with such a man, and able to share in this type of board today around the world. If it wasn't for Duke, we wouldn't have a common place here today, and able to share a part of our passions from this American hero.

Happy 96th Birthday, John Wayne

:D

hi,

i remember when i was a little tacker some person published a photo of jw in really small togs (bathers, swimmers) wearing boat shoes with the caption saying that he was "gay" i was trully offened that they could say such a thing about this fine man. i think that this was mainly said because others were jealous of him and in the photo what a hunk of a man. so for me he was truely a legend and proudly stood for what he believed in.

happy b'day jw

cheers smokey

I know I am supposed to go to a different part of this messageboard to post my 100th message but I think that this is more appropriate and I hope nobody minds.

I cannot describe the mans greatness he was authenic on and off screen truly magnificent a legend an unrivaled force in the movie making industry quite simply he was John Wayne the greatest and most underappreciated actor of all time.

Thanks John for your movies and your grat legacy you are a hero!!

I was born towards the end of 1979, so I am a fan that only had the chance to "know" John Wayne after his death. I don't have a friend my age that will even admit that Duke was an interesting person let alone a good actor, but I feel that I must be wise beyond my years because of my appreciation of the classics. Anyway, John Wayne is my favorite actor, and I am glad that I have gotten to know him through his movies.

On a side note, my sister shares the same birthday as Duke. She doesn't always like that fact, but I think it is kind of cool.

Happy birthday Duke...and to my sister!

I thought it was just the right time to pull this thread out of the closet. I'm not sure how active some of these members are but I went searching for something and this thread popped up. I thought it would be an appropriate post 700.

Just like the thread says... Remember an American. John Wayne was not only a true American but he also played a few true Americans in his movies. Perfect example is The Wings of Eagles where he played Frank "Spig" Wead. A great Navy hero that gave us the escort carrier that helped us win WWII or at least save a lot of lives.

65 hours until we leave for Winterset...

And I would be honored to have the same birthday as John Wayne but I am 10 days off.

Thanks Dakota! Yes, we've been blessed to have him. Wish he were still here, man could we use him today!

Happy Birthday Duke!
I can't say anything more than has already been said. He was a great man and a person to look up too! I wish I could go to Winterset Iowa for his birthday, but I am too far away from the area now. So I am doing the next best thing, and visiting, for the first time, The John Wayne Alamo! What a dream come true, I can not wait to get there and see it! He was such a great man and a couragageous man, he will always be my hero!

Some people should just read the other posts in the thread to understand some things.
