Hi Senta,
How many have I seen? Well, I have 147 John Wayne films in my collection, and I've seen all of them at least once, most more than that, plus a few dozen documentaries, TV shows, Specials, etc..., so not counting them, I'd have to say 147. My family says I need to get a life!

The Ringo Kid September 27th, 2005, 04:04 PM Senta, don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I tried the quiz and I did not get any of the ones I answered correct. :headbonk: I might try the quiz again after I take a cruise through the IMDB site.

Hi Senta, it is a pleasure of mine to also hear from you again as well. ;-)) Thank you and thank goodness that we came through the storm in perfect order. Heh heh, I DO worry about my lack of knowledge about Duke's films being as I love most of em and also being a member of this great site. :-)) Sam goes for me when I get a new Duke film. I can't wait till Hondo and McClintock are released so i can et them as well and mave a "Duke Weekend" at my house. I fully agree with you, I too think of The Duke a s agreat hero.
Take care my friend--C.
PS, if you wish and by private message, if you send me your address, I would like to send something to you which has to do with The Duke. :cowboy:

Well I just found this thread and I for one would definitely be interested in another trivia quiz. I actually was able to answer most of the ones here.
Colorado Bob June 14th, 2007, 08:16 PM Howdy gt12pak,
Glad you enjoyed it. I'll squeeze my brain cells and see if I can't come up with a few more questions for y'all. Just give me a couple of days.
Best Always,
Colorado Bob
Jay J. Foraker June 15th, 2007, 10:57 AM ALRIGHT! Let's have some more!
Cheers - Jay:beer:
gt12pak June 16th, 2007, 08:56 PM Thanks Jay. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one here who would be interested in this.
chester7777 June 16th, 2007, 09:16 PM Here's a suggestion - do it something like dukefan1's What's on TV? feature, posting it and then folks PM the answer(s) so that everyone has an equal chance to answer, and after a week, you post the correct answers, and the names of those who got them right, if you want to.

chester7777 January 25th, 2008, 10:52 AM It seems like there was some interest in doing this, but I know Colorado Bob is a pretty busy guy, so I don't think he'd mind if I revive this thread.
In order to give everyone an equal chance to get credit for knowing their John Wayne trivia, I'd like to use the same model that dukefan1 has used in the What's on TV? thread. Those who want to play can PM me with your answers, and in a week I'll post the correct answers and the names of those who got it right.
Here's the first question -
John Wayne generally wore a cowboy hat in most of his westerns, but donned a coonskin cap in a number of his films. Name four.

Hondo Duke Lane January 25th, 2008, 05:52 PM Are you kidding? Alright I'll PM you the answers.
Cheers :cool:

Hi Chester
Its probably my lack of knowledge on this subject but I was always pretty certain he only wore this type of hat in three movies, can you confirm that there are at least four movies in which he wears this type of hat?

I thought I should offer this hint - in one of the four titles, he doesn't wear a coonskin cap throughout the movie, but he is definitely seen in that same movie with a coonskin cap at one point in the movie.

chester7777 January 27th, 2008, 07:11 PM I posted the question on Friday morning, and I was figuring I could put up the answer in a week, next Friday morning. That would give folks time to research or watch movies, if they want to. But I am open to suggestions - none of this is cast in stone.

chester7777 February 3rd, 2008, 10:40 AM Howdy, y'all!
I apologize for getting back to this a little late. Been dealing with some stuff around home that is rather time-consuming. Anyway, just as a reminder
Here's the first question -
John Wayne generally wore a cowboy hat in most of his westerns, but donned a coonskin cap in a number of his films. Name four.
Four people ventured out on this, and each one got three of the four films, which were
The Big Trail
Allegheny Uprising
The Fighting Kentuckian
The Alamo
The Big Trail was the one that no one guessed. Quite frankly, we had to watch it again to confirm that Duke wore a coonskin cap in it, as every picture we found showed him in a regular hat. However, in a flashback scene in the movie, he is indeed wearing a coonskin cap.
Thanks to Hondo Duke Lane, arthurarnell, wbbison, and Robbie for playing this first game!!
Now, for the second question -
In what film did Duke co-star with two single-named actors, in what year did the film's story take place, and where (location) in the movie did he meet his leading lady?
Don't forget to PM the answer to me by next Sunday morning (I want to give everybody a week to answer; I'll eventually figure out if one day of the week works out better for me than another).
Have fun!

chester7777 February 10th, 2008, 08:51 PM Now, for the second question -
In what film did Duke co-star with two single-named actors, in what year did the film's story take place, and where (location) in the movie did he meet his leading lady?Here are the answers to last week's question -
The film was North Alaska.
His single-named co-stars were teen idol Fabian and French actress Capucine.
The story takes place in 1900, during the Alaska gold rush.
He met Michelle/Angel (played by Capucine) in a dance hall/bordello in Seattle.
Of the three responses, one person got all four parts correct, and that was dukefan1!
Way to go, Mark!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
Here's question number three -
John Wayne was responsible for recommending James Arness for the role of Marshall Matt Dillon in TV's Gunsmoke.
Name the John Wayne movies in which James Arness appeared with Duke.
Don't forget to PM the answer to me by next Sunday (I want to give everybody a week to answer; I'll eventually figure out if one day of the week works out better for me than another).
I guess I owe you guys an apology. I started this post last Monday, and somehow never hit the "Submit reply" button - got sidetracked somehow.
Anyway, the answers to the above question are:
Big Jim McLain (1952)
Hondo (1953)
Island in the Sky (1953)
The Sea Chase (1955)
Of the five response received, all five were correct. Congratulations to gt12pak, dukefan1, H.sanada, Jay J. Foraker, and ralphper, and thanks for playing!
