[B]I just bought 3 movies with James Stewart:
Winchester 73,bend of the river, the Man from laramie.

In Winchester 73 I was surpristed to see and hear that James Stewart made commants with the director, it was great to hear a great actor like stewart comment on his movie, but the diretor also asked Stewart about the Duke.
And as stewart was a freind of Duke, it was nice to hear him talking about Duke on this DVD.
In a Question to Stewart, he was asked: who was the best actor, and who was the best cowboy, was it Duke or Henry Fonda, Stewart replied in his own druwling way, Henry Fonda was a better actor, but Duke was absolutly the best Cowboy ever :cowboy: .
I liked that, they were all freinds :) .
Who els was realy Dukes freinds, actors and not, I would like to know, do you know others that were realy his freind in pro B) and private ^_^ life?

Hi larrybusch,
I think that although Jimmy Stewart,
was not part of the same clan as Ford, Bond and Fonda,
it's fair to say that they liked each other, otherwise, I don't think we'd
have seen the great pairing in The Shootist!
You may already know but there is a great documentary released,
called, THE DUKE AND THE GENERAL- Lost interviews, with John Wayne
and James Stewart, in which they both discuss their careers , and their love for America.
A lot of the points you made, come across in this documentary,

Keith

ethanedwards, Thanks allot, great cool facts, I know Duke and Stewart was repuplicans, and as much as I like and respect Duke, I have the same feeling for Stewart, althought they were emotionally different actors, when you see their westerns you have no doubt. Don't forget the 1962" the man who shot liberty valance". I know Bond was a good freind but how was his relation with Fonda?

Hi Larry,
Henry and Jimmy were very close friends from their very start as young actors,
they were in the same young tour company, room mates, men about town etc.
However, whilst Henry was part of the Ford set, until he fell out with him, Jimmy was not.
Dukes, friends were of course, Ford, Bond, Fonda, Grant Withers, Paul Fix etc.
To get a better idea, there are many books, and they are worth reading to get the wider picture.

Incidently, I was in Disneyland Resort, Paris, last January,

WHERE WERE YOU???
