I met the "Duke" in 1974. I was doing some business with him. I became to know him very well. I would go to his house in Newport Beach.CA and set and talk and have a drink or two. I also knew Pat Stacy (very nice lady) and Rosie his housekeeper. Mr. Wayne knew I was interesed in western reading and the history of the old cowboys. About 6 months before he passed away he gave me some of his books out of his book collection. All of the books I have are made out to John Wayne and signed by the authors. The most prized one is: Bill Kelly's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GUNMEN, there were 500 copies made, the one I have is the 1st off the press. the other books are The Day Jesse James Was Killed by Carl W Breihan, Saga of the Six-Shootes by George E. Virgines I am willing to part with these,if a true collector is interested.
