Hi,
Kevin, has very kindly set up a new forum,
whereby all the Biographies, are now under one roof.
I feel this will have the same benefit, as the new Movie Reviews forum,
Once again, it will eliminate endless searches, through fragmented threads.
So now, Biographies, Filmographies, Trivia, discussions, comments, relating,
to any Co-star, Actor, Director etc, can now be be accessed, easily.

Pals of the Saddle- Cowboys .... Blue
Pals of the Saddle- Cowgirls.... Pink
Pals of the Saddle Directors .... Green
Pals of the Saddle- Composers .... Purple

Thanks for your support, and,

WELCOME, to

PALS OF THE SADDLE

Keith,

Its great Kevin created this new Forum. Several folks were concerned it was getting kinda crowded over in off topic. THe Mrs and I agree with you that this will have the same benefit, as the new Movie Reviews forum, and it it will eliminate endless searches, through fragmented threads.

This Organising stuff is a good thing. ;)

Keith,

Is it possible to put up a photo with the bio's. It would be great to put a face with some of the actors we can't quite put our finger on.

That is a question we had thought of as well, and we think it's a great idea.

Thanks, Baby Sis, for bringing it up.

IMDb doesn't even have pictures for all these performers, so we'd be better than them in that regard. They'll be coming to our site for information!

Go, Keith, go (but please put the picture in the same post as the bio, so it's easier to find)!

Hi Sis, Chester, Mrs.,

Do you know, you must have been reading my mind!!
I've been considering posting a photo, since the beginning,
but could not work it out!!
I still can't get the photo, on to the page, does anyone know??
keeps telling me, it won't accept an active image!!!
then there's also the problem of copyright!
However, I am able to post a link, the next best thing.
(which, avoids copyright problems, as it directs you to their own image)

Update

I have gone back and posted photo links,
on all the Biogs, I've already compiled,
apart from a couple, where photo's were not available.

Hope you like them

ethan,

How about doing a "Pals Of The Saddle" thread for Robert E. Morrison, the Duke's younger brother. During the 50's, he apparently was out of work, so Duke made him a producer at Batjac. He was responsible for the production of many of Batjac's B-pictures from 1956-58.

Keith,

I haven't looked at all of them, but the ones I looked at were great!

Thanks for taking the time to do that!

Keith - You've got this organizing down to a science. The way you have simplified the movie subjects is easy to follow and provides a wealth of information. And I know this was not easy to set up, either. My hat is off to you for all your hard work. Thank you -
Cheers - Jay :D

Howdy, y'all!

Realizing that the Internet has a wealth of information about many things, I decided to see what other information and perspectives might be available for all the different people involved in the film industry in so many ways. In compiling a group of links for each "Pal", I didn't include IMDb since Keith has already used that as a main reference. I didn't list any NY Times links, since Keith indicated that he also used that for information. I didn't list sites that were primarily selling stuff, or sites that duplicated most, if not all, of the information already provided here.

What I did choose were sites that had good graphics, a more personal perspective on the person, or maybe even new information.

I went out at least 10 pages on Google before giving up on finding something, so there might be more great stuff out there, but if it didn't show up in the first ten pages, I didn't find it . As Keith adds more Pals, I will gladly do the same for them.

Enjoy!

Hi,

Just to say I have now completed,
the Pals Of The Saddle project,
Hopefully we have achieved the objective,
of making this a 'one stop' site,
for any information, regarding
Duke, his movies, and his co-stars.

I have attempted to use three criteria,
in choosing the 'Pals'

1. To include all the more recognizable co-stars,
who have made more than one movie with Duke.

2. To include, any co-stars,
who are more famous in their own right,
eg. Katherine Hepburn, James Caan,
Glen Campbell, Ricky Nelson, etc.
who have only made only one movie with Duke.

3. To include all the co-stars, that are named in
our Administrator Kevin's Homepage, here at

JWayne.com.Homepage (http://www.jwayne.com/costars/costars-index.shtml)

If any name pops up, that members wish to be added,
please mention them.

I have also gone back through all the Biogs,
and upgraded them, so the films made with Duke,
can be directly accessed from
clicking on the movie title.

This now directly links together,
Pals of the Saddles, and
Duke's Movie Reviews.

Thanks for all your support.

Thank you for doing a tremendous job Keith! I think there will be lots of people using these pages in the future, finding the information they are looking for and/or expanding their interest for certain movie stars, John Wayne, westerns and movies in general.

I have probably said it before, Keith - you deserve a great round of applause for all your hard work putting "Pals" together. You've fixed up a good source of research on Duke and his movies and co-stars. My kudos to you, my friend!

Keith,

Pals of the Saddle, both Cowboys and Cowgirls, is a great resource!

Though she is not in Kevin's list of co-stars at jwayne.com, I was thinking a good addition to the cowgirls would be Yvonne De Carlo. Though she only appeared in one film with Duke (McLintock!), she was a fine star in her own right, and got our attention when she passed away earlier this year. I mention it because I specifically looked for her recently, and discovered she didn't have her own thread.

Thanks for an AWESOME job!!

There are two slots still available
in the Top 20 Western Screen Legends (http://www.dukewayne.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50) series.
If any member has a movie star
they consider should fill one of those places,
please post here!!

Thanks

You have Dale Evans, how abut Roy? He made over fifty westerns, some quite entertaining. Then there are two of my favorites, Gabby Hayes, and Walter Brennan .

I personally think Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea, both of whom made some pretty darned good Westerns, should be considered for includion. In fact, I think they're more deserving than some others on the list. Glenn Ford also made some really good Westerns.

Jim, Randolph Scott is profiled in Pals Of The Saddle

I set up Western Screen Legends, so as to profile actors,
who had NOT made movies with Duke.
So McCrea and Ford are good candidates.

Hi Kieth

For some time I have been meaning to post on this subject and now it probably too late I will.

imo and thats all it is one actor who appeared in numerous westerns mainly in starring roles was Barry Sullivan, very underated but made some good films. Perhaps he might be considered for inclusion ( although I do realise he never worked with John Wayne).

Arthur
