I am looking for a video John Wayne narrated for a Ford convention in Washington D.C. it was shown around 1984 and included the song "Battle Hymn of the Republic" playing while scenery of the country was shown.

Anyone know where I might find or look for such a video?

Hi Zambon1man,

That really is a strange coincidence, and also good to know.
You realise of course, that ethan edwards, was the role Duke played,
in the classic film The Searchers

I hope that the boys, are well?

Howdy Zambon1man,
Welcome to the forum and glad to have you! I am thinking hard about your question, but as of yet drawing a blank. Do you have anymore information about this video? Was it shown at a Ford (as in Ford Motor Company) convention, or at a John Ford convention (stupid question I know, but I had to ask). I am wondering if it was something created specifically for that particular convention. At any rate, you've got me hooked, and as anyone here can tell you, I am always hunting down rare and elusive John Wayne videos and DVDs and what not. So I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best,
Colorado Bob

Zambon1man,

We, too, would like to welcome you to the John Wayne Message Board!

So are you a big John Wayne fan, and did that influence the naming of your twins, or was that a marvelous coincidence? (it seems there are quite a few coincidences happening lately :D )

Colorado Bob is an excellent source for this type of thing. Some more information would be helpful, though.

We look forward to seeing you around again, soon!

I'm not a huge John Wayne fan, but I am a fan.

I didn't realize Ethan Edwards was the name of the character he played in The Searchers.

As far as the video I'm looking for, my father in law is a big John Wayne fan and I'm trying to find the video for him. He's mentioned it a couple of times and I thought I'd try to track it down.

It was played at a Ford Motor convention.

I don't have much more to go on. Just that the convention was in 1984 and it has the Battle Hymn of the Republic playing while scenery from the United States is showing.

Sorry for the lack of info, I really appreciate all of the help.

Howdy Again Zambon1man,
Can you find out when in 1984 the convention took place, and where it took place? Also, was the convention for Ford dealers, or for Ford employees? In other words, what was the exact nature of the convention and who was it geared around? This information might help me locate your lost video. I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Best Always,
Colorado Bob

I'm not exactly sure, but it sounds a little like 'Chesty, A Tribute to a Legend'. It was directed by John Ford in 1970, and narrated by John Wayne.

Believe it or not, I still haven't gotten around to getting this video. I found a site that sells it for I think about $20, but just haven't gotten around to picking one up. If anyone else has it, could they check and see if this is the video that Zambon1man is talking about?

OKay, my father-in-law saw it at Jack Morton Productions in Washington D.C. It was for a Ford employees convention. He viewed it in 1984 so the meeting took place earlier than that.

Thanks for all of the help.

I'll have to try to track down a copy of the chester movie.

Thanks for the further information. Hopefully, that will help somebody narrow it down and come up with what you are looking for.
