I haven't seen this asked before, but I noticed in a few of JWs movies that he slugs someone with his left fist. Does anyone know if he was left-handed?

I distinctly recall that when the Duke writes, that it is with his right hand. I think that when he swings those fists, either one would get the job done.

Well, I have a John Wayne poster entitled Flying Fists, which I got at Ebay. In that picture, he is definitely swinging a right. If you'd like to see a picture of it, check out the auction, and scroll down for the image:

In a word, "No." That is according to the book, John Wayne: American. But if you got hit by Duke, either hand, you will know it. According to the book.

Brian,

I believe you mean ambidextrous . . . ;)

Hm-m-m-m-m, would this be considered an unnecessary, or "fluff", post?

It depends on the camera angle for the shot. Most of the movies he shot his revolver with the right hand or threw a punch with a right.

Yep Baron, you're right about the camera angle, something similar to this happend in the movie "The Sixth Sense" Bruce Willis is right handed but in a scene in the movie where he is writting he uses his left hand for a better camera angle.

To add my two cents to this topic Duke is defiently right handed
