Duke Fans, I found you at last, now all I have to do is figure out how to use this, I may have it, the first time I tried my post was not listed so I must have done something wrong.

My question is this, I have several list of movies John Wayne was in and they all are different, even this foum added 3 more to the ones I have. Is every one confused or is it just me.

Part of my problem has been that some movies have another name ( I think ) like Helltown was also called Born to the West. and Wheel of Fortue and a Man Betrayed is also the same movie.

Was new Frontier also Frontier Horizon. There is a movie called Lost Battalion, mentioned in The Complete Films of John Wayne.

Anyway I have 108 movies on tapes that are store bought, several recorded from TV, and always looking for one that I don't have.

Hi Doug...I seem to count 168. I am working on an MS-Access database I am building for myself to track the ones I own, have seen, etc., and a synopsis for each. I have also set it up with the full cast member list for each film. As such, I can do complex searches with a wide variety of criteria. But my 168 number is by no means authoritative. I simply pulled the data from the internet list.

Welcome to the John Wayne Board. This is the best place for a lot of his loyal fans to get together and share stories, trivia, and questions, that I could find on the internet.

You propose a great question. How many films has Duke done? According to the Complete Films of John Wayne by Mark Ricci, Boris Zmijewsky, and Steve Smijewsky, they list Duke doing 152 films.

Here is the conflict, he made a bunch of films that he only makes a brief appreance (especially in the early days) and is not credited. Some times people credited him on TV, but he made many appreances on the television. The newest one is he is listed as credited in the movie, when his movie was showing on the movie after he died. I don't count that, but there are some who do, so here are some of the conflicts. So Doug, there is your answer.

As for the listing of how many movies out on VHS, and DVD, I have that answer for you. Currently as of today June 16, 2003. Duke has 122 VHS moives out; some maybe hard to find, but that is the official count. He has 78 DVD's out officially right now. Do realize that some on VHS may have been released, but is not currently. For example Alleghany Uprising is not listed as a release on VHS, but it was at one time, because I have it on VHS. Again, I am listing from the movies, not television appreances. like I Love Lucy, Red Skelton, etc.

Guys, thanks for all your replies, yesterday, I finally made my own list as well, mostly from "The Complete Films of John Wayne, with other lists I have found here and there plus several I got from this forum. I Get 164--this includes many in the early years where he is uncredited, but also include the Movie "Cancel My Reservation" a Bob Hope Movie.

I have 1201/2 recorded movies the 1/2 is because I only have 6 episodes of "The Hurricane Express".
