Polly Burson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0123357/) the queen of the stuntwomen passed away. Ms. Burson doubled Kim Darby in True Grit. Stunted in El Dorado and double Yvonne De Carlo in McLintock.

She had a long career which included Earthquake, Gary Cooper's Unconquered doubling Paulette Goddard, Night Passage doubling Harry Carey Jr's (http://www.soledadprod.com) mother Olive Carey and get this doubling Julie Adams in the Creature From The Black Lagoon.

We went to her wake that was held on Saturday. Terry Leonard (Harrison Ford's double in Raiders of the Lost Ark), Loren Janes (Steve McQueen's double), Mae Boss and all the Stuntwomen were there. It was a great send off for Ms. Burson. She will be missed.

This is a sad day. I didn't realize that she was in so many of the Duke movies, but she had an active life. R.I.P. Polly

A sad time. If I remember correctly she was a fantastic horsewoman and I have seen pictures of her stunt riding act at various rodeos.
