Hi everyone,
Anyone else had problems with the board today,
I keep getting this error message:-

Also I couldn't get into the Board Announcements section,
where this should have been posted!!
William T Brooks September 29th, 2006, 11:23 AM Keith, Yes I tried to Report this Sex Site Thing and Got the Error Warning and would not let me Post or Send a Warning on letting this Post Stay on this Site Much Longer. Hope you get this one!!! :fear:
Bill :cowboy:
ethanedwards September 29th, 2006, 11:28 AM Hi Bill,
Got that, I've sent Kevin all the information,
regarding both the Bad Thread, and the error problem,
Best Wishes,
Bek September 29th, 2006, 07:07 PM I've been getting that top message aswell, a few times in the last dayt or two.
Kevin September 29th, 2006, 09:12 PM Hi guys,
There has been a rash of these trolls that have joined to only post there garbage. This has caused me to moderate the sign up process. This will give me the chance to review all ne sign ups before their allowed to join the site.
EDIT: Some tweaking was done to the database so hopefully the error messages go away.

Robbie October 5th, 2006, 11:16 AM Hi Kevin
I have had quite a few problems with this site today, on several occassions when I tried to access it, I was confronted with the following error message.
IPB WARNING [2] mysql_connect(): Too many connections (Line: 115 of /ips_kernel/class_db_mysql.php)
In addition to this every time I leave this site and come back to it, I am logged out and subsequently have to log back in again, even though I have selected the tick box which states 'remember me'. This is the only site where this happens,
Thanks
Robbie

yes I've just experienced that when I logged on today.

Robbie October 5th, 2006, 02:11 PM Hi Arther
The site has been in real disarray today for some reason (I hope its not hackers again).
Another problem that has confronted me several times now is that upon loading up dukewayne.com the page is too wide and it take a while for it to revert back to normal size.
Im not quite sure what the problems are but hopefully they can be fixed.
Robbie

ethanedwards October 5th, 2006, 02:41 PM Hi,
It appears to be the same problem as we had last week.
as per the link below
Technical Problems (http://www.dukewayne.com/showthread.php?t=3611)
Robbie October 5th, 2006, 04:50 PM Hi Keith
Thanks for pointing out that link and if its the same problem again then I afraid that trolls are to blame. Its a shame that these people can disrupt things so much, is there anything that can prevent or minimise their disruption in the future?
Robbie

ethanedwards October 5th, 2006, 04:59 PM Hi Robbie,
This happened a few months ago, same error message etc.
At that time we were not experiencing any 'trolls' etc.
The bad threads, that we experienced last week, have been eliminated
mainly due to the measures, Kevin has installed at registration.
I'm on-line, all day (UK) time, most days,
and I haven't seen a violation since.
I think, therefore, it may be technical, rather
than 'trollable', if you see what I mean
I know Kevin, is aware of it.
Cheers Robbie
Kevin October 5th, 2006, 06:00 PM Hi Guys,
The issue we are experiencing is server related again. Hopefully things will settle out soon.
Robbie October 5th, 2006, 08:15 PM I'm glad its not trolls this time.
Robbie
:agent:
Kevin October 5th, 2006, 10:15 PM No trolls, well no trolls are being allowed to join. I'm currently screening new signups for possible trollers. And if I'm satisfied that the user is legit then I approve them. But there is a possibility that one could slip thru...
erthomp143 October 6th, 2006, 12:36 AM I think the ones we have been hit with lately are bots, it is not a real person sitting there filling these out.So adding the extra step of approving the signup should stop them.
ethanedwards October 6th, 2006, 04:38 AM Kevin,
If anyone slips through, we'll be waiting!!
ethanedwards October 7th, 2006, 07:40 AM Hi Kevin,
From Bills comments on another thread,
it would appear that no one Stateside can log -on!!
It's very quiet around here!!!
Kevin October 7th, 2006, 09:47 AM I can..
It's sunday morning here now.
ethanedwards October 7th, 2006, 10:38 AM Good Morning Kevin,
I notice if you click the refresh on the error page,
it does take you through,
just the matter of trying!!
Isn't it Saturday there?

Nope. It 'was' Sunday morning when I posted earlier, and now it's Sunday Evening at about 9:54 pm. :)
chester7777 October 7th, 2006, 11:28 PM Kevin,
For some reason, I was thinking today was Saturday also.

Robbie October 8th, 2006, 10:29 AM I'm afraid I'm still experiencing quite a few problems on this site. Pages wont load up and error messages are being frequently displayed.
I don't have any problems on other internet sites, so I suspect the problem is related to this board.
Thanks
Robbie

That is a normal error message that will warn you if you try to do alot of searches in a short period of time. The system will do this to avoid database overloads.
Not sure what you where doing when you got this message, where doing searches?
Robbie October 8th, 2006, 08:21 PM I wasnt searching I was however attempting to view my private messages when I received this error message.

Robbie December 14th, 2006, 08:16 PM Hi all,
As you may have noticed (or maybe you haven't noticed) The Duke message board was experiencing some database problems which was caused by an updated done on the server. Without getting technical here it has been fixed for now BUT it could happen again in the future, until there is a permanent solutions.
Thanks for your patience...
Kevin
Hi Kevin this problem has returned tonight.
Thanks

Ringo Starr January 2nd, 2007, 06:50 PM Hi Kevin, I tried to log in using my The Ringo Kid account and my password but, everytime I try to log in, I get an error message saying I am typing in the wrong password.
I have sent you 2 pms regarding this problem. One from a few days ago and the other just a few minutes ago, and I have not heard from you so I did not know if the other PM arrived.
I would like to go back to using my The Ringo Kid account and to have this one deleted.
Thanks and best regards-_Carl.
Kevin January 2nd, 2007, 07:41 PM Hi Carl,
Email sent! Sorry for the delay!
Popol Vuh February 18th, 2007, 01:35 PM I'm don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere before, but it seems like a lot of the old links on this message board linking to other threads are wrong. They either link to the wrong threads or to threads that don't exist. I guess the the threads have changed numbers.
Regards
Popol Vuh
ethanedwards February 18th, 2007, 06:21 PM Hi My friend,
Yes we are aware of this, myself probably more than most, I suppose,
having posted so many inter related movie posts!!
Kevin is hoping to sort this out!
Popol Vuh February 18th, 2007, 06:27 PM Hello Keith.
I sent a PM to Kevin at the same time. I should have mentioned this in the post so not too many people waste their time with this. And yes I noticed that a lot of your links were ruined. Hope Kevin can sort this out.
Regards
Popol Vuh
chester7777 February 19th, 2007, 01:34 AM Probably all of our old links for Deep Discount DVD have gone south, as they have changed their name to "Deep Discount" and may have changed their format.
Hopefully we can update them soon.
Chester :newyear:
DakotaSurfer February 19th, 2007, 07:47 AM Not sure if I like their new layout but they combined their two sites... DeepDiscountDVD and DeepDiscountCD to DeepDiscount (http://www.deepdiscount.com/).
chester7777 February 19th, 2007, 10:21 AM Not sure if I like their new layout but they combined their two sites... DeepDiscountDVD and DeepDiscountCD to DeepDiscount (http://www.deepdiscount.com/).
Ah, now I get it. I didn't realize there was a Deep Discount CD. Thanks for that, DS!
Chester :newyear:
ethanedwards February 19th, 2007, 12:21 PM There does seem to be a problem with, posts duplicating themselves!!
chester7777 February 20th, 2007, 01:23 AM Another problem is posts showing up in a different thread than the one it was intended to be posted in.
Chester :newyear:
Robbie March 11th, 2007, 08:33 AM One problem that has arose within the past day or two is when a post is made, the user is then taken to a blank white screen, instead of being allowed to review the post on the messageboard.
:agent:
SXViper March 29th, 2007, 10:53 AM Has there been any resolution to the problem concerning the button on the top menu bar that we use to be able to see total posts day, week, month and overall? It has now been replaced by "Mark Forums Read" and "Open Buddy List"
DakotaSurfer March 30th, 2007, 11:12 AM I wondered if I was the only one seeing that... it's like the buttons disappeared and all it shows is text.
SXViper April 5th, 2007, 11:44 PM Now those buttons have changed and the total posts is still gone as well. Kevin must be making some changes to the board. Either that or there is a bug someplace.
ejgreen77 April 5th, 2007, 11:53 PM Here's a question for the moderators,
How do you embed an image in the text of a post using the ATTACH command? I've seen ethanedwards do this in his "Pals of the Saddle" section. It seems to have an ATTACH command followed by a number followed by a /ATTACH command, like this:
ATTACH 233 /ATTACH
The image will then display right in the text of the post.
I'm assuming the number must be some sort of number the board attaches to images that have been uploaded, I'm just not sure how to do it.
Thanks,
E.J.
DakotaSurfer April 6th, 2007, 01:51 AM I can help you with that... when you click on post reply a test box appears and down below the text box there is a button that says "Manage Attachments" Click on it and it will bring up a box that tells you what type and size of items you can attach. Once you grab an item from your hard drive then you can come back to this reply box and click on "Attachments" above the typing area and the images or files you imported will be listed. Click on an item and it will put the item into your reply like it would a URL or an IMG but it will say ATTACH between [] with a number given the item by the forum and then close the attachment like a url with a / before the attach word between []. It's kinda like a built in Imageshack. The below image was done this way. It won't go into your gallery and will only be available for that specific post not for any others. I've found the easiest way is just to use my Photobucket account and place items in my posts. This way it won't take up space on the forum and the item can be used more than once.
Popol Vuh April 8th, 2007, 05:02 AM New problem I discovered today. I wanted to change the e-mail adress since I have problems with the one I have used when registering here. When I click on the edit password and e-mail button I am only able to change the password. There is no option to change the e-mail information.
Robbie April 9th, 2007, 07:06 PM The problem with these forum is that they are rarely read by anyone so posts in them generally go unnoticed.
:agent:
Popol Vuh April 9th, 2007, 07:27 PM I figured maybe Kevin would read them every once in a while. Anyway it seems that my problem went away since the mail service on my old e-mail account seems to be up again after a not being able to get mail there for a week.
Regards
Popol Vuh
chester7777 April 11th, 2007, 11:46 AM Here's what Kevin had to share with me a few days ago, on this issue
I had to revert it to the original menu. Not sure at this point what went wrong with it. But I'll be tinkering with it as time permits.
I definitely noticed, because I used that "Quick Links" button all the time, and I miss it.
Chester :newyear:
SXViper April 11th, 2007, 11:19 PM What's the deal with the "reputation" button on the members page. For the longest time everybodies was gray, now all of a sudden gt12pak has a green one and it says "he is on whis way to being distinguished" or something like that.
i know its minor, I was just wondering.
DakotaSurfer April 12th, 2007, 12:27 AM Mine is the same way... pointing to the green button is says: "DakotaSurfer is on a distingished road" There are about 77 of us with a green button. Only thing I can see in common is that we all signed up after 12/25/2006. Maybe it has something to do with the board update and all new members?
Jay J. Foraker April 12th, 2007, 01:06 PM My button says that I'm "an unknown quantity!?" - whatever that means!
Cheers - Jay:beer:
DukePilgrim April 12th, 2007, 02:26 PM I thought everyone round here was an unknown quantity LOL. Is being on a distinguished road something we have to aspire to!!!
Mike
Robbie April 12th, 2007, 02:55 PM I am also curious to know the answer to this question as I am also an unknown quantity, but as Dakota Surfer said it may have something to do with the date on which people joined the messageboard.
:agent:
DakotaSurfer April 13th, 2007, 01:15 AM Outstanding Kevin... you must have fixed the menu. We can see the Top Posters again under Quick Links. Outstanding...
SXViper April 13th, 2007, 08:03 PM Thanks Kevin!! It finally got warm here in Atlanta today and now I am going home tomorrow. You enjoy your weather down here, it will make it up to Minnesota consistently in about 2 months.
chester7777 April 14th, 2007, 01:39 AM A thousand thanks, Kevin, for fixing the Quick Links button!!
Chester :newyear:
Jay J. Foraker April 14th, 2007, 10:46 AM Let me add to the others' thanks, Kevin. I really missed that feature!
Cheers - Jay:beer:
The Ringo Kid April 24th, 2007, 07:32 PM I keep trying and all I get is a blank blue screen with swirls--nothing else.
Anyone else having same problem as I am?
Lt. Brannigan April 24th, 2007, 08:20 PM I got in just fine....
gt12pak April 25th, 2007, 05:06 PM Same here, hopefully we can get Ringo's problem solved and have a nice chat.
The Ringo Kid April 25th, 2007, 05:16 PM Just tried it again adn still same as above?
DakotaSurfer April 25th, 2007, 06:35 PM I just got in using Firefox... you do need the latest version of Flash... the screen is blue and it asks for a login and password. Looks different from other chat rooms I've seen. And the Mods have their own room. I still think a Shoutbox would be easier for us to chat.
Lt. Brannigan April 25th, 2007, 06:43 PM Yes I do like those shoutboxes. Makes life less complicated.
The Ringo Kid April 26th, 2007, 05:48 PM Hi Dakota, your correct and Kevin is (same conclusion) the library needs to update their flash program thing. I KNOW it aint going to happen though.
DakotaSurfer April 27th, 2007, 08:18 AM I just went into my UserCP and saw a couple subscribed threads. I click on unsubscribe and received this message:
vBulletin Message
You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
Kevin April 27th, 2007, 06:12 PM Surfer, Try unsubscribing now and let me know if you can. I finally tracked down the issue for this crazy error message.
I just went into my UserCP and saw a couple subscribed threads. I click on unsubscribe and received this message:
DakotaSurfer April 27th, 2007, 09:01 PM It does work now but I also discovered that you have automatic subscription set. When someone makes a post to any topic you automatically get subscribed. I wonder if that's part of the New Posts or another switch that's on that shouldn't be. Some people could be subscribed to a lot of posts. But to the original problem, the error message doesn't come up anymore.

Glad to know the errors gone.
Colorado Bob April 29th, 2007, 09:01 PM Just wondering, what is that little icon that appears on my posts that talks about "reputation points"? What the heck are reputation points, and why do I need them?
Kevin April 29th, 2007, 09:09 PM That is a feature where members can add approve or disapprove on other members posts. We are not using that here, and it was disabled before. I must has toggled it on by accident.
Thanks for asking..
Tbone May 3rd, 2007, 10:43 AM Has anyone else attempted to post to the recent thread re:JW's autograph?
I've tried a couple of times but it's not taking my post.
Just wondering...
Tbone May 3rd, 2007, 10:47 AM Okay, I'm beginning to get a complex. :stunned:
I also posted to the thread about JW's car but that one didn't take either.
Anyone else noticing this?
DakotaSurfer May 3rd, 2007, 02:42 PM Depending on where you post, it may take a moderator to authorize the posts. Anything put under The Trading Post thread needs to be authorized.
Kevin May 3rd, 2007, 03:35 PM The trading post forum is moderated. TBone I just approved your post.
Tbone June 1st, 2007, 08:58 AM Kevin,
Has something changed regarding what happenes when we reply to a post?
Seems it used to work that when you hit reply, you could still see the post you were replying to now I can't, it only shows the reply window. Has something changed or am I just crazy?
Thanks,
DakotaSurfer June 1st, 2007, 09:07 AM If I hit post reply it still shows them down below... even if you quote it still shows them. Have you checked your Control Panel? I saw your post when I did this one.
chester7777 June 1st, 2007, 11:29 AM Yeah, Tbone, just scroll down and you will see previous posts. What is gone is the Post A Quick Reply option, which Kevin indicated was messing up so he disabled it for the time being.
Chester :newyear:
Tbone June 4th, 2007, 10:16 AM Ohh... I'm dum dum... :stunned:
Thanks for pointing that out guys. I didn't realize the thread was below. Duh...
chester7777 June 5th, 2007, 11:52 AM Tbone, don't feel too bad. I think maybe in our old format, the previous messages might have been above the reply, because I think I've done the same as you . . . .
Chester :newyear:
Tbone June 5th, 2007, 02:54 PM Thanks Chester!
The older I get the tech challenged I seem to get.
I got a new cell phone the other day, not cause I wanted to but cause I had to, and I can't figure out half the stuff on it. :stunned:
DakotaSurfer June 21st, 2007, 02:35 AM I've got a couple things... first one of your Google ads acts up from time to time. And before we used to be able to switch when we were writing a post from a written link to the image or shown link and back again to jsut the text if we needed to fix something. Now when I add an outside image and do a preview it goes straight to showing the photo and I can't go back to change any text if I have the wrong image. There is a little button in the top right corner of this posting section that has a small "A" and a large "A" but it doesn't work anymore. I think it's called a switchmode option.
chester7777 July 16th, 2007, 11:04 PM Kevin,
What is the deal with the mult-quote function? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't (and I wish it did work).
Thanks for checking into it!
Chester :newyear:

And while your at it, check why the "Switch Editor Mode" button doesn't work anymore? Plus it also seems like your DB is getting rather large... it is taking longer to search and list new posts. Is it time for a purge?

I double check the settings for the switch editor mode. And yes it maybe time for a purge or a simple optimization of the db.

The Ringo Kid August 28th, 2007, 07:06 PM please bring back the, quick post reply feature. Posting here was so much easier (for me) when you had that feature.
And if you will be so kind as to bringing that back, I will buy you all the forums  :cake: :kiwibird: :coffee: and :pizza: that you can drink/eat.
The Ringo Kid August 28th, 2007, 07:58 PM  I see our beloved Moderators are keeping things in proper places. Sorry about posting this in the off-topics section, I completely forgot about this area way down on the bottom of this place.
chester7777 August 29th, 2007, 02:36 AM No problem, Carl, I meant to PM you and got . . . distracted . . . . I vaguely remember this coming up before, but I don't remember what Kevin's response was. Hopefully, he will see this thread and enlighten us.
Chester :newyear:
The Ringo Kid August 31st, 2007, 06:50 PM Thanks Jim/Sue, and ill be back either Sat or Tues and hopefully Kevin will have had time to think about it.
Kevin August 31st, 2007, 06:51 PM Hey Carl, I'm sorry that I haven't responded, I completely missed this originally.
I have re-activated the quick reply option. The original problem that effected this has been corrected.
The Ringo Kid September 5th, 2007, 06:39 PM  Thank you Sensei  I greatly appreciate that and that feature.
Kevin September 5th, 2007, 09:20 PM No Problem-O mate.
Wayne September 12th, 2007, 12:26 AM I have not been able to access the forum for several weeks now in my preferred web browser, Safari (Version 2.0.4 (419.3)) running on Mac OS X 10.4.10. All I get is a page with this sentence at the top: "Sorry, you must have javascript enabled to view this site." Yet Javascript *IS* enabled. As far as I am aware, nothing has changed on my end during this period.
I can access the site through Internet Exploder 5.2.3 (shudder) and Netscape 7.1 and Firefox 1.0.7. Anyone have any idea what may have happened?
--Wayne
Kevin September 12th, 2007, 06:36 PM I'll look into this, and check with the forum developers and see what's causing this.
ejgreen77 September 16th, 2007, 10:36 AM Is is just me, or has the board "shrunk" considerably over the past two days? It no longer fills the entire width of my browser and the text is so small it is barely legible.
ethanedwards September 16th, 2007, 11:05 AM HI EJ,
It's fine my end!
dukefan1 September 16th, 2007, 01:13 PM It's good on my end also, ejgreen77. Maybe your monitor settings changed? Just an idea, I am in no way computer smart. :stunned:
Mark
Kevin September 16th, 2007, 05:59 PM Nothing has changed (that I know of) with the style of the site.
chester7777 September 17th, 2007, 01:03 AM It might have something to do with being on a site with larger avatars, then coming back to this site with normal size avatars, and everything just looks smaller.:glare:
As dukefan1 mentioned, perhaps someone else in the household changed the monitor resolution. In my house, I share the 'puter with teenagers, and they are changing the resolution all the time on their desktop, and unfortunately, the setting extends across all profiles, so I end up hitting the ol' Ctrl and + key so I can read the screen.
Chester :newyear:
ejgreen77 September 18th, 2007, 06:58 PM Well, whatever it was it's gone or been corrected. And it was definitely a problem with this site, as all the other websites I visit were displaying normally the whole time. And my computer account is password-protected, so no one messed with the settings.
BTW, I am using IE7 and Windows XP.
At any rate, I'm glad to things are "back to normal." It's tough squinting at a computer screen!!!
Kevin September 18th, 2007, 07:46 PM Strange. Nothing has been done to the site that would effect the theme/css.
SXViper September 19th, 2007, 12:15 AM I have been fine, well as fine as I could be!!!
My screen size looked much different after I replaced my moniter with a widescreen LCD. Did you happen to changed monitors or something?
The Ringo Kid September 25th, 2007, 06:16 PM Im having troubles occur again trying to stay logged in while making a long posting. It's been getting worse over the past week. Today for example, I lost two long replies was booted from the system and had to log on again. :yeaahh:
Also, many times trying to get into another thread, takes me 2,3,4, and up to 5 tries to do so.
Many thanks and best regards--Carl.
Kevin September 25th, 2007, 06:31 PM Is this the library computer?
The Ringo Kid September 25th, 2007, 06:40 PM Yep. Im not having any troubles going to other sites though. So far today, I have been to two of my email sites as well as: www.ww2f.com (http://www.ww2f.com) and www.imageentertainment.com (http://www.imageentertainment.com) and no problems there.
Kevin September 25th, 2007, 06:58 PM Anyone else have similar issues?
ejgreen77 September 25th, 2007, 07:07 PM The only time I ever had any trouble was once when I had the board open in two separate browser windows at the same time. Got kind of screwed up there. Other then that, I haven't had any of these kind of problems.
Ringo, this won't really address the issue here, but whenever I make a long post I periodically select all the text I have entered and copy what I have typed so far. That way, if anything "weird" were to happen you could just paste what you have already typed back in instead of having to retype everything. Just a thought.
The Ringo Kid September 25th, 2007, 07:17 PM Hi Kevin, thanks for the help. Now im having a terrible time in just logging in.
Hi EJ, i'll try that cut and paste thing. I now know these computers here will allow it-im just not sure exactly how to do it.
Many thanks and best regards--Carl.

Hi EJ, i'll try that cut and paste thing. I now know these computers here will allow it-im just not sure exactly how to do it.

Ringo, the key command for copy is "Ctrl" + "C" and the key command for paste is "Ctrl" + "V"
In other words, press and hold the "Ctrl" key, then hit the "C" key to copy.
Press and hold the "Ctrl" key, then hit the "V" key to paste.
I hope that was clear.:fear2:

ethanedwards September 27th, 2007, 05:45 AM Hi Kevin,
In the managed attachments,
we originally had the facility,
to place the images anywhere in the text,
that's now gone, anyway it can be returned?
Now all the images appear at the bottom!
ethanedwards September 27th, 2007, 07:48 AM No problems, here in the UK!
chester7777 September 27th, 2007, 11:00 AM Keith,
FWIW, I just put images of posters in the Back to Bataan thread and had no problem placing the images separately, wherever I wanted them to be. I played around with it a little, just to see, as I had read your question here.
Maybe it was just a momentary glitch the last time you tried to use the feature.

Robbie December 9th, 2007, 07:09 PM Kevin
I've been having extreme difficulty logging into this site on numerous occasions, when I submit my user name and password the system brings up a message stating 'Thanks for logging in Robbie' but it then proceeds to log me out.
The only way I can access the forum is by clicking on your name on the forum homepage.
Is this an issue that can be resolved?
Thanks in advance
:agent:
Kevin December 10th, 2007, 10:03 PM Try accessing the site with the www. in front. Other than that, i'm not sure what else to tell ya. If anyone else is having login issues are welcome to post here, but I've not had any other inquiries about this.
SXViper December 11th, 2007, 01:04 AM I have been free and clear of any log in problems for along time. Sorry that doesn't help you Rob. Hope you can get it figured out.
Jay J. Foraker December 11th, 2007, 12:36 PM Kevin - about 10 days ago, I was able to log on, but activating the various forums and messages found a very sluggish response. However, by the next day, everything was fine. My internet provider may have been at fault!

Kevin January 1st, 2008, 02:33 PM Glad it got fixed. That was what was being told to me from the vB folks.
ejgreen77 January 19th, 2008, 09:24 PM As of today, I am having the exact same problem using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7.
I can access the board using Firefox, so that's how I am writing this.
The only thing I can think of is that I did just update my virus software today, so maybe that may have had something to do with it?
At any rate, it's highly annoying.:thumbs_down:
Kevin January 20th, 2008, 02:30 PM There has been nothing changed on the site, So I'm not sure why your having issues. I'm using IE 7.0.5730.13 & XP, and I'm seeing no issues.
It could very well be related to your recent virus program updates, which could have adjusted your browser security settings.
chester7777 February 19th, 2008, 11:03 AM Kevin,
The last few times I have attempted to use the search function on this site, I have encountered the following message
The search term you specified (Ron) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.
I was trying to do a search on "Ron Howard" and was unable to continue. Today isn't the first time I have had this happen. I have definitely searched in the past with fewer than four words, and been successful.
Can you check into this . . . please?
Thanks!

chester7777 February 19th, 2008, 11:06 AM I still can't get the multi-quote to work. Is there some setting in the User Control Panel I need to check or un-check?

Thanks again!

John,
I ran into that same problem awhile ago so sent Kevin (the administrator) a PM asking what to do. He said there's a box that must be checked that will allow you to re-activate the thread.
Johnc March 13th, 2008, 07:59 AM Thanks Stumpy

chester7777 March 13th, 2008, 12:03 PM To be a little more specific, when you try to post in a thread that hasn't seen any activity for some time, you will see a box below your reply that says something along the lines of the thread being over so many days old, but if you are sure you still want to post . . . . There should be a little box where you check that you do, indeed, want to post. When you check that box, your post will go through.

ethanedwards May 22nd, 2008, 05:20 AM Murray, kilo6 mentioned that on lots of the threads, the embedded link,
does not take you to the correct subject.
The reason for this is that, when these threads were posted,
(particularly in the Movie Reviews and Pals Of The Saddle)
they were made on our old style board.
When we transferred to this new board,
the links were different and did not work.
Where I can, I am hoping to update the links,
but as you can appreciate, it is a thankless task!
dukefan1 May 22nd, 2008, 09:48 AM A thankless task, but we do thank you for taking the time to provide us with the many movie threads you have provided for us. The board would be so much less without them.
Mark

Keith, you have done a amazing job collecting and expanding the co-star forum and it is appreciated. The links didn't sort correctly back when the board was converted so that left a lot of existing internal links being screwed. I spent many hours trying to find and correct the issue with no success.
Stumpy May 22nd, 2008, 07:26 PM Keith,
I want to add my thanks for the great job you've done and continue to do. I don't know how you manage to keep going, putting in the hours you do on this board. Oh, you thought we wouldn't notice, didn't you?

ethanedwards May 24th, 2008, 06:01 AM Hi Kevin,
I notice when repairing the links,
the link information is the same,
except for the last 4 numbers, which send you to the wrong thread!
They all end with showthread ...0123 etc
It is much faster to edit in just the four numbers,
thus correcting the error!
Is it possible to let me have a list of all the Movie and Pals links
and their corresponding showthread numbers?
ethanedwards June 21st, 2008, 08:34 PM Just as a reminder,
please let us know if any internal board links are malfunctioning,
and we will endeavour, to correct them.
As an ongoing project,
I am currently in the process of replacing them all

There's not a way to index it this way. I used a program back when I moved to vB that was supposed to convert the old ipb board thread id's to the new vB scheme but that was a bust and it never did do it.
ethanedwards June 21st, 2008, 09:21 PM Thanks Kevin, for trying that.
I have sorted through all the movies,
and have now compiled a list of all the four digit showthread numbers.
I am currently inserting them into the links,
and the one's repaired, are all working fine.
ethanedwards June 24th, 2008, 08:59 AM I have now completed the task, of repairing
the internal board link errors, which were predominant
in the 'Pals Of The Saddle' and 'Movie Reviews'
Hopefully now, when clicking on the links,
it will take you directly to the Movie or subject intended.
However should anyone come across, one, I may have missed,
please notify me, and I'll correct it.
Thanks for your participation
dukefan1 June 25th, 2008, 02:09 AM I just want to say thanks to you, Keith, for taking the time to make sure all the links are correct and working smoothly. WaynamoJim November 3rd, 2008, 08:32 PM Can someone tell me why when entering the site, you have to login each and every time? Used to be if you checked off the box that kept you logged in, you didn't have to do that. Now, it's every time. Getting to be a real pain.
It's like trying to get into someplace important and the doorman asks for your i.d. and a background check. Where are we at, the airport?
Kevin November 3rd, 2008, 10:08 PM Clear the browser cache & cookies and try again.
ethanedwards November 23rd, 2008, 08:08 AM This has popped up in another thread.
So for the benefit of our newer members,
please take note of this.
Dixie,
Even the links Mrs C posted since they are from 2006 a few are broken. The second and last ones just in case they didn't work for you.
Dixie and Shortgrub.
When posting external links, one is never to know
how long they will be good.
As far as links internally within this board, some do not fuction,
as they were transferred over from our old forum, and therfore,
cease to work on this board.
As far as links in the Movies, 'Pal's section,
I have spent many hours repairing them,
and hopefully, they all now function.
However, if you come across any that don't,
please PM me, with the rogue link.
chester7777 January 6th, 2009, 12:20 PM You can access the chat room from several different points. You can use the link in the "Quick Links" area of the top menu bar, or from the main forum display page.
I did notice on New Year's Day that there was NOT a link to the chat room in the "Quick Links" but forgot to mention it then (although I do remember there being one there in the past). Using the Quick Links today reminded me of that, so I thought I'd just mention it here.

It was mentioned the other day, with regard to Jims 6th.

on the board was highlighted at the bottom of the forum.
Is this feature still available, or have I missed it somewhere?
Jay J. Foraker February 16th, 2009, 12:00 PM For the last week or so, instead of automatically entering the board as "logged on," I've had to manually enter my user name and code word to be recognized by the board. Not a big deal, but just kinda irritating. I don't know if it's my server or what!
chester7777 February 16th, 2009, 12:07 PM I'm assuming it's making you do that, despite the fact that you've checked the "Remember Me" box?
Jay J. Foraker February 18th, 2009, 12:40 PM Yep! "Remember me" box is checked, etc. As I said, this started about 10 days ago. It may have something to do with my server.

SXViper May 9th, 2009, 06:32 PM What browser ar you using? You might have a "cookies" issue. Especially if you are running IE(Internet Explorer). Have you tried running a different browser, like Mozilla's Firefox or Google's Chrome? I am thinking that about the time this started ago you had a update where you downloaded a update to your computer and either updated your browser from IE6 to 7 or IE 7 to 8. And during that upgrade you had a flaky "cookie's" setting that is maybe the source of this.
Lt. Brannigan May 9th, 2009, 08:43 PM My mozilla seems to be rejecting cookies left and right, it won't let me stay logged on anywhere once I close the window.
The Ringo Kid May 9th, 2009, 09:32 PM The computer im on this evening uses Mozilla-and no problems at this end. However, I do have an constantly occuring and constantly irritating thing happening to my account at www.wartradersguild.com Militairia site-which is-I log in onve-it shows me as being logged in-but I can't "see" any of the forums areas until I retype my info in a 2nd and sometimes 3rd time-then it finally allows me to get into the forums. Nobody there can seem to figure that one out-and I sure as all git all-have no clue why it does that?
Anyway, sorry I was "off Sites Topic" but it's still very irritating.

It would not surprise me in the least to learn some computer-savvy liberal, (meaning almost any Dummicrat), has launched a DNS (denial-of-service) attack on this site because of (a) their hatred of the Duke and all conservatives or (b) our derogatory posts about their favorite black president.

Anyway, I received the "Server is to busy error" today...

Kevin,
Is this forum on a *Nix server or Windows? If it is on a *Nix server and you have anything other than 0 in *NIX Server Load Limit in the ACP it will cause this 'busy' message.
Although that setting is designed to manage the server load I have found 0 is the best setting. I run a very busy forum on a dedicated server that also runs our very busy web site and photo gallery, and tried various settings, but now have it on 0 and everything is fine.

Kevin October 4th, 2009, 11:04 PM Hi guys,
I guess some of you may have noticed some downtime for the site this weekend.
At this point it appears that the issues was caused by a lack of disk space available on the server. I run nightly backups for our site, and I slipped up and didn't purge the backups before they sucked up the last available memory.
I have cleared the backups now so that has freed up the disk space, so we should be back running smoothly.
Sorry for the problems.

Kevin November 21st, 2009, 09:29 PM We are back!!
There was an issue with the main node at the LA datacenter. All connectivity issue should be clearing up now.
Hopefully this downtime today has allowed you the time to clean your room, clean the gutters, and cut the grass. :glare:

Funny you should mention that. We've had intermittent problems with our internet connection the past few weeks, and that was my first thought. Then Mrs. C recommended trying any other site to see, and she was right. It was (unfortunately) our site that was problematic, not our overall connection.
In any case, it's good to be back.

I haven't experienced any issue so far, but I'll spend sometime viewing pages to see if I can get it to do something.

The past day or so, I keep getting messages that say something to the effect "we're having problems with the database" but "the administrator has been informed".
2 or 3 days ago I wasn't even getting those messages - I just couldn't connect.
ethanedwards November 23rd, 2009, 07:52 PM Hi could you please tell me how to remove old attachments I have in order that i can replace with new ones thanks
Elly,
Loook at your post and and when you click
'Edit'
you should see
'Go Advanced'
Scroll down to attachments
and you should see
'Manage Attachments'
Click on that and there should be a
'Remove'

If it happens again, I'll take a screenshot.

°°Flaca°° February 3rd, 2010, 05:51 AM Yesterday I tried to see the post about Rio Bravo trying to find it by the research bar,
so I read "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator (http://www.dukewayne.com/sendmessage.php) and describe the action you performed before you received this error. "
What is it?:uhhuh:
Kevin February 3rd, 2010, 06:04 AM Thanks °°Flaca°° for letting us know about the error. This error message pops up eveytime we do a board software update. I'll see if I can run this issue down and get it fixed.

chester7777 June 10th, 2010, 11:18 AM Taka,
I'm sorry you haven't received an answer to your question before this (and I'm not sure I can answer it).
I do know that periodically emails are generated by the message board software, to encourage those who really haven't been around for awhile, to come back and visit. You do visit quite regularly, so I (like you) am a little puzzled. I wouldn't consider you an "inactive" member.
Just as a general piece of advice, if you ever get an email from ANY entity with which you deal, that you consider suspicious, do NOT under any circumstances click on any link in that email. If it IS a phishing email (that is what it is called, when someone is trying to get information from you), clicking on that link and putting in things like passwords or other personal information will be giving some hacker your info. Open a new window and go directly to the site by typing the address in the address bar.
Hopefully, Kevin can shed some light on this. Thanks for letting us know.
BTW, has anybody else received such an email?
Chester :newyear:
Kevin June 10th, 2010, 02:22 PM Hi H.sandra,
I just saw this post (thx Chester for replying), that email is a normal email that is sent from the board to members who haven't visited recently. It shouldn't have anything attached to it, so its a safe email to receive.
H.sanada June 11th, 2010, 06:59 AM Thanks for your message,Jim and Kevin
To hear normal email, I feel easy.
But still i am confused.
I think i'm not an inactive member.
Taka

That's what confuses me as well. You certainly visit often enough to not be considered inactive. Maybe Kevin can clarify that.
erthomp143 June 12th, 2010, 12:13 PM I have received that email also, sometimes right after a visit to the site. There is probably a glitch in the code that sends the email...
The Ringo Kid August 24th, 2010, 11:32 AM I can read PMs but cannot send any. I get some message saying that a security token is missing and to notify the Admin. Well, I tried to notify the Admin but, it wouldnt go through.
Anyway, if anyone can please do me a favor and send GT12pak a message that I got his PM but that it wouldnt let me reply, I would greatly appreciate that ;-)) Also, that I need his phone numbers again since they were stored on my stolen cell phone.
Many thanks--Carl.

Kevin, many thanks and, ditto on the message where it said to try to conact ya-I guess some pesky Mynocks are in the system ;-)) Heck, they gave Han Solo some trouble eating the wiriing on the Falcon. ;-)
clancy September 8th, 2010, 09:03 AM I just tried sending a PM to somebody and it worked. I don't know if that means the problem is fixed, or if I didn't have it in the first place.

The Ringo Kid September 9th, 2010, 11:25 PM Hi Clancy, I just sent a long message and it looks like it went through ;-)) I think Kevin was able to solve that headache ;-))
Many thaks Kevin-best regards from a forums troublemaker ;-))
Kevin September 10th, 2010, 06:53 PM Ringo (and others) let me know if you continue to get the security token error. I just disabled some plugins & upgraded the forum to the next vB release. Hopefully, that will clear up the token thingy.

Jay,
Did you remember to check the box that says "Remember this user" or something like that?
Jim
The Ringo Kid January 31st, 2011, 11:26 PM check the box on occasion but it has never remembered me so im used to manually logging on.
WaynamoJim January 31st, 2011, 11:29 PM I've had similar problems getting into another site. I put in my username and password and check off the little box to keep logged on and it won't let me on. Says I have to login again. It just keeps doing it and doing it. If I don't check off the box, I'm in but, I have to login every single time. I did the cookies thing and it didn't work. I have Comcast internet and if I want to go into my email and I login, the page keeps repeating itself over and over and over. If I'm fast enough, I can click on the email box and it might jump to my email page but, it takes a load of tries to get there.
