View Full Version : John Wayne On Infomercial
Ervserver October 2nd, 2006, 12:44 AM was listening to a late night infomercial the other night and John Wayne was mentioned. The infomercial was for a so called colon cleansing tablet. The socalled Doctor/expert on this show said that after John' Wayne's death an autopsy was performed and they found like 15lbs of debris in his colon.
Now I've read lots of stuff about Mr. Wayne but never heard anything this bizarre. Anyone ever hear of this? It's likely a bunch of bull and I don't see how they can get away making stuff up like this.
ethanedwards October 2nd, 2006, 03:46 AM Hi Ervserver,
Nope, first, I've heard of this,
I wouldn't have thought, at the time
an autopsy was required,
(unless, anyone knows anything different)
as it was pretty clear to what
caused Duke to pass away!!
William T Brooks October 2nd, 2006, 05:17 AM There was Never any talk of a Autopsy as every one knew what Duke Died of, Cancer and it had Finally gone to His Vital Organs and He could Eat or Drink though His Mouth.
There were many other Stories like this going around at this time, like He Died of Radiation from the Atomic Testing, and Like the Communist Finally had Got Him.
He wanted to be Cremated and have a Masonic Service as He was a 33rd. Degree Mason, and be put into the Sea from His Boat "The Wild Goose" But His Son Mike Wayne Put a Stop to this as he was a Catholic, and they did not believe in Cremation. Mike Wayne was in Charge all the plans for the Funeral.

chester7777 October 2nd, 2006, 07:20 AM I think these folks trying to make money at the expense of Duke's memory are pretty
low on the feeding chain, lower than sewer scum in fact.
I have heard this story before, actually for a larger amount than 15 lbs, so I guess these folks could be commended for keeping the amount to a minimum. :headbonk:
I would like to find out the original source of this story. I suspect it originated from a leftist source, of the kind we see, constantly trying to denigrate the Duke.
Chester :newyear:
dukefan1 October 2nd, 2006, 08:08 AM I've heard that story before, also. I even got in a debate at work with a person who swore it was true. You know how stories go. Starts out, without merit, and soon becomes hard fact. I never bought into it. I heard the informercial also a while ago on the radio and remember scoffing at it. So, I just chalk it up to nonsence.

TMI...... Too Much Info... :dead:
Colorado Bob October 2nd, 2006, 10:12 PM Definitely too much info. But, I'm glad there is at least an educated and informative debunking to this (pardon the pun) crappy myth.

Regular isn't one of the criteria, as the Mrs. says she could almost tell the time by how regular I was :jump: (although regular is a good thing  ).

When you feel that cramp, don't ignore it . . . the doctor said that if I'd been to see him when I first starting feeling pain in my abdomen, he might have been able to deal with the whole thing with antibiotics. But three days later, it was surgery that was needed (an infection had gotten bad enough to weaken the colon to the point of perforation - BAD thing :uhuh: ).
Wishing you all the best of health :D ,

Keith,
Thanks for asking. Somehow, I missed this post, so I apologize for the delay in responding.
I am in the process of scheduling the second "reconnect the plumbing" surgery for sometime around the end of the month. Here I am, feeling really great and back to doing things, and soon, I'll be back to the beginning again, recovering from major surgery. I'll keep you folks posted when I have an exact date.

Senta October 11th, 2006, 12:25 AM Hi Chester,

Keep us informed, we will pray for you.

Well, things got real hectic, trying to get ready for surgery, so I didn't get a chance to get back here last week. Anyway, I had my surgery Monday, Oct. 23, and everything went very well, with no unexpected surprises or setbacks. I got home this evening, and am in a little pain, but otherwise feeling pretty good. I have an incision stapled together with about 30 staples, from below my belly button to just below the breast bone, and a hole an inch and a quarter in diameter and two inches deep just to the left of the vertical incision. It will be several weeks of changing dressings a couple of times a day - the Mrs. sure is getting some good nursing training and experience! :fear2: She sure is a good sport!
So my posts will probably be few and far between for awhile, but I'll be around.
By Thanksgiving, I should have enough strength to lift a nice, big turkey leg in one hand  and a jug of egg nog in the other :D !

dukefan1 October 28th, 2006, 06:22 AM Thanks for the update, Chester. I hope your recovery is swift and with as little discomfort as possible. Don't push it and do what the nice nurse lady Mrs. C says, and ya just might come out alright. :D
Mark
P.S. You want to scare the kiddies on Halloween, show them your incision :o
Take care, buddy!
Robbie October 28th, 2006, 10:45 AM Hi Chester
