Trivia

Played rhythm guitar on the Shelley Fabares number one hit "Johnny Angel" that peaked in April 1962.

Third wife, Sarah, is Mac Davis's ex wife.

Played rhythm guitar on the Frank Sinatra classic "Strangers in the Night".

In his family, was one of twelve children.

Before finally enjoying success on his own in the late 1960s, he was one of the top studio guitarists on the West Coast for more than a decade. A list of performers he accompanied reads almost like a who's-who of the top names of the era and includes Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Nat 'King' Cole, Frankie Laine, Ricky Nelson, Jan Berry and Dean Torrence (aka Jan and Dean), Judy Garland, Dean Martin, The Kingston Trio (contributing a fourth voice on their 1963 hit "Desert Pete," you can easily hear him on the chorus), The Crickets and The Limeliters.

Phenomenally successful pop/MOR singer and TV personality of the late 1960's and 1970's. His many hits from this period, all on Capitol records, include "Gentle on My Mind," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," "Hey, Little One," "Galveston," "Honey, Come Back," "Try a Little Kindness," and "Rhinestone Cowboy."

An avid golfer, when not on a course, he plays gigs at venues around the United States, including at his own theater in Branson, Missouri.

The 1964 hit "Little Honda" by The Hondells was actually recorded by a group of studio musicians, including Campbell on lead guitar and Hal Blaine on drums. The group known as The Hondells was put together for touring purposes after the song became a hit, but they had nothing to do with the actual recording of the song itself.

Children with Kim Woollen: Cal (1983); Shannon (1985); and Ashley (1988). Cal and Shannon both have their own bands and play locally in LA and Pheonix, and Ashley attends Pepperdine University, in Malibu, California as a Theatre major.

He has sold 40 million records and has received 12 gold albums.

Personal quotes

"People speak out today, like the guy that did it on the Academy Awards. They can make an ass out of themselves if they do that. I don't get mixed in with politics."
Where are they now

(April 2006) Lives and golfs in Malibu, California with his wife, Kim, just a few miles down the road from Pepperdine University, where his youngest daughter attends.

Hi,

[ATTACH]879]

Glen Campbell, obviously known as an extremely,
successful, Singer/songwriter, made a few films.
The most significant to us, is Duke's finest hour
as an actor, True Grit.
Glen starred as

True Grit ([Only registered and activated users can see links])(1969) .... La Boeuf

He wasn't too bad, there have been worse actors in Duke's films,
but he wasn't terribly convincing either, about on
par with Rick Nelson's acting in Rio Bravo!!
Glen was diligent and eager to learn,
but Hathaway constantly picked on him.

However, Duke and Glen, became good friends, and
Duke, was soon to be seen appearing on Glens,
many TV and Christmas specials.

Glen also sang the fine title song.

I can't say much about Glen Campbell except that I like his singing. It was cool to have him in a mive with Duke as well. I most know him as the guy who sang one of my favorite songs: "Southern Nights."

I thought Glen did rather well in True Grit, in fact, I thought I may have gone on to be in more Duke movies

I love True Grit, my only gripe with the movie was the casting of Kim Darby - she was awful

Glen Campbell was always one of my favorite singers. He also toured with The Beach Boys for awhile as part of their band. It shows that he was married four times but, I thought he was married to Tanya Tucker, also. Either that or they lived together and it was a very tumultous relationship with both of them undergoing substance abuse. I've got his CD that has all his hits on it. My favorites, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Galveston, Southern Nights, It's Only Make Believe.

Hi Mrs. C and thanks for posting, but the top video no longer seems to be available.

Ethan...If I'm not mistaken, Glen Campbell only performed "True Grit". Don Black wrote the lyrics & Elmer Bernstein wrote the music. Campbell was just the artist who performed it.

Hi Mrs. C and thanks for posting, but the top video no longer seems to be available.
Not sure what happened, but I just searched it again and refreshed the link. It worked once, then when I hit it to play again, it came up with the message "This video is no longer available" :glare:. I don't know what that's all about, because when I go directly to YouTube, it is definitely available.
