Anyone else this obsessed? lol Tina  LittleDuke January 19th, 2003, 08:04 AM Hi Tina! I have 2 big pictures hanging up. The one overtop of my desk is a closeup sketched of him from Chisum. I bought years ago when I was ten or so. The other was given to me by a relative which is a painting of him with horses in the background. The sketched picture looks just like him but the painting isn't as good. My kitchen is a western theme so John Wayne goes well. He's why I switched from southwestern to western. I also have the picture of him and the sheriffs badge along with his list of movies and a shell casing. I believe it came from Cheyenne Outfitters magazine. My parents bought it for me for Christmas a couple years ago. I have the John Wayne plates and the little glass globes with him inside from different movies. If you don't already have the book John Wayne my Father written by Aissa Wayne I suggest you get it. I have had it for probably 6 or 7 years. It's a really good book. I do have also an old poster that is life like. My husbands great aunt gave it to me she is a John Wayne fan also. I'm not sure where to put it. I could go on and on about him. Talk soon, Little Duke chester7777 January 19th, 2003, 10:40 AM I've been wanting to get the poster of John Wayne throwing a fist in slow motion. I found it on a poster web site but haven't gotten it yet. It's really neat. I have a John Wayne life size stand-up cut out, in western attire. It's several years old and is getting rather dogged. I guess I'm becoming a true groupie also, just checking into this web site each day. Oh, well . . . LOL . . . Chester chester7777 January 20th, 2003, 10:31 AM When I made my last post, I forgot to mention the Ivan Jesse Curtis print that I have that is called "All My Heroes Are Cowboys", with drawings of 22 different famous movie cowboys. John Wayne's likeness (and it is a very good one!) is top and center, between Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. I think you can still occasionally get it on e-bay. At one time, the artist had his own web site, but I don't know if he still does or not. There is a companion picture to the cowboy one with all the sidekicks. I don't have that one. Chester stacy January 20th, 2003, 02:48 PM Hi, Was reading around the new web page and saw your message! I have 7 John Wayne pictures on my walls! One of them is an atographed picture of John Wayne that is very cool! I even went so far as to find a light switch plate that has him on it! I think he was the greatest and has made a big impact on my life! His pictures I have put in my hallway between bedrooms and on the one wall that I don't have him on is family so I consider him a big part of my life! People who come and see our house think that it is my husband that is the John Wayne fan I quickly tell them otherwise!!!! You are not alone on this he was and still is a hero to me and many others! Stacy Dukette January 20th, 2003, 03:27 PM I have one beautifully framed painting by and signed by Sally Evans in 1984 that was given to me by my parents while I was in highschool. It is his face and shoulders in his Western attire. I have wanted a small statue but havent purchased one yet. Posters would be cool but alas, where would I put them. hmmmmmmmm. twobtrue2johnwayne January 20th, 2003, 05:28 PM My brother-in-law is/has been iin the reserves for over 30 years, and is the highest ranking official in Missouri. He has a picture of him and John Wayne together when John visited troops ,I believe, in Vietnam. It is one that I wish I had. Can you imagine having your picture taken with John Wayne, side by side. That would be my wish. Tina Maurice January 23rd, 2003, 04:26 PM Hi. Maurice from Wales U K here, my pride and joy is the Poster I have framed and above my computer it is the full size 4ft by 4ft Poster for The Alamo which came from outside The Astoria Cinema in London where the film had it's premiere and the guests included the late Princess Magaret the Queens sister. Best wishes. Maurice. REASR January 23rd, 2003, 11:51 PM If collector plates count.then there a 24 plates on the walls. But the Franklin Mint plates are packed away. Then the sTatues, watch, belt buckles, oh did I mention a two year old named John Wayne? ( We call him Duke!) :D Rick Eurekatours January 25th, 2003, 07:32 PM Several years ago some very nice folks from California moved to our home town. They were older and didn`t drive so my parents kinda adopted them. My Father passed away in 1983 and the job of taking care of these folks fell into my hands. Mr. Wright always talked about his Brother who he said directed some of John Wayne`s eariler movies and called him "Mack". Well, thanks to computers and the internet I found that his Brother was Mack V. Wright and he did direct several of John Wayne`s movies. After Wilbert (Wright`s) death a few years back I inherited some pictures of a very young John Wayne and Mack Wright that I hold as very special pictures. Hope I didn`t bore you with my little story. LittleDuke January 25th, 2003, 08:04 PM No you didn't bore me. That's great! Imagine coming across someone like that. I'm sure you treasure those pictures. Makes ya feel like ya have a little piece of his life. Thanks for the story, Little Duke chester7777 January 25th, 2003, 09:58 PM Hey, that is a very interesting post. Is it possible to scan the photos and possibly post them on this message board? Chester P.S. I just bid on two John Wayne posters on Ebay. One, the Flying Fist, and the other, from the movie "Sands of Iwo Jima". These are reprints, but they look pretty nice, from a guy with the user name posterden. They have dozens of different John Wayne movie posters. The shipping is a little high, but if you get more than one, the shipping drops on subsequent additions to the same order. Ethan January 27th, 2003, 03:00 PM I don't have any plates or statues, but I have a 20x22 charcoal sketching of him as "ROOSTER", also a photo of him from "THE SEARCHERS", a smaller (and very rare I'm told) picture take of him in "professor valley Utah", in cavalry uniform while on the set of "RIO GRANDE". Also bought one of those coats he wore in "TRUE GRIT" which is called a (RIO BRAVO) coat. Bought it online and shipper told me it would definitely be delivered before Xmas. It was on Xmas eve, and so was my 4 week old colt (born Xmas eve) and whom I promtly named "BEAU". Just to honor the occasion. But my prize possession is an autographed copy of Charles Portis novel "TRUE GRIT", when I met "DUKE" at an Olympic benefit. LittleDuke January 28th, 2003, 09:27 AM Ethan that IS something special! I wish I could have met him. I'll just keep watching his movies, reading books and talking to you all about him. I like to watch him even though he's been gone for some time now. I like to see him happy and healthy. I never watch The Shootist. I have the movie but I never watch it. I can't. Thanks, Little Duke chester7777 January 31st, 2003, 01:13 AM Little Duke, Can't say I blame you there. We have The Shootist, and also The Cowboys. That one's really hard to watch, to see John Wayne taken out by a sleazy Creep! We recently watched "The Sands of Iwo Jima" and "The Fighting Seabees". We also own "Wake of the Red Witch". Those aren't quite as bad, as it goes along with the plot. Since he dies so rarely in his movies, it always comes as something of a shock, even when we know it's coming. :( Some people complain about John Wayne never actually serving in the military during WWII, but I truly feel he did more for the country and the war effort by being as good an actor as he was. Chester LittleDuke January 31st, 2003, 07:59 AM Hi Chester! I myself think he should have gotten the Oscar for Sands of Iwo Jima. He was great in it. I also thought The Searchers along with Red River were very good on his part. I also have The Cowboys. I usually stop watching right before he dies. I really don't have much time to watch them anymore. I usually watch what they have on t.v.. I never thought less of him for not serving. He sure did bring reality to the screen though. Have a Happy, Little Duke BrianB July 2nd, 2003, 10:30 PM Currently I have 10 Duke pictures on my walls. One autographed from Hondo, Angle and the Badman, El Dorado, Sands of Iwo Jima, Framed photo and Stagecoach stamp, Chisum, Green Berets, McLintock, North to Alaska, and the Quiet Man. Along with countless other John Wayne items. Brian Tulalip Wa baron von Rassilon July 3rd, 2003, 12:13 PM What I have is one my aunt did for me. She is an accomplished artist and she did a portrait in charcoal of Rooster Cogburn. I've had it for 5 years. I am trying to get her to do me a few more pictures of him. My other picture is a black & white poster of Wayne on a horse. I also have several autobiography books on Wayne as well as some other noted actors and a small statue for the Franklin Mint collection that was a gift from my wife. I would like to get more of them. Chester 777 Yes, you can scan from a book or magazine with a scanner. I usually do it for my websites. It's not hard. AEC23 July 3rd, 2003, 12:30 PM I've been collecting magazines with the Duke on the cover and the Duke's comic books for a couple of years now. I have about 14 of them now. My favorite is an Australian movie magazine with a picture of the Duke and Patrick Wayne on the front of it from Rio Grande. Kalmouk December 20th, 2004, 07:41 AM Hi, You will find here a few John Wayne posters: http://westernposterpage.com/wayne.htm Kalmouk arthurarnell December 20th, 2004, 10:36 AM Hi I have about fifty of these posters they look good and if you have the room I would think that some of them would look great framed. I'll get a list of what I have and if anyones is interested they can get in touch $15 seems a bit expensive. Regards Arthur A Girl Named Jen December 20th, 2004, 10:56 AM I forgot to tell you guys that a couple of weeks ago my husband was on a short business trip out of town and stayed at a little mom'n'pop small town motel. Apparently it was one of those cheesy places that has themed rooms; his room was called "the Western room" and there was a huge picture of Duke in there. He told me about it as he knew I'd get a kick out of it. Jay J. Foraker December 20th, 2004, 02:21 PM Hi Folks - I think I have a rather unique photo of John Wayne in my office here. A gentleman by the name of Fred Balderrama visited with me last summer and revealed he had played a bit role in "The Green Berets." He had in his possession several pictures of him and the Duke taken at the set of the Vietnamese village. He was kind enough to autograph one of them for me and this is now on the wall of my office. Of course, Mr Balderrama was somewhat older in person from the person in the picture. :) Jay The Ringo Kid December 20th, 2004, 03:58 PM :cowboy: Currently, I have no Wayne on the walls but, I am planning on buying some 20 or so 8x10 B&Ws of him sometime after Jan 2005. I have all four Life magazine covers framed just trying to decided where they look best to hang them. The rest of my collection is in a half filled old trunk in my bedroom (magazines, books, clippings, photographs, etc.) some I have gotten off ebay the rest I have just picked up here and there. Merry Christmas :newyear: Baby Sis gunclick rick May 5th, 2005, 01:54 AM Ivan Jesse Curtis prints chester7777 May 5th, 2005, 09:23 AM I think Chester must have read this thread without me back in December, because I would definitely remember reading about Arthur's impressive assemblage :o ! The picture that gunclick rick put in his post, on the left, is the one we have on our living room wall. After reading through this whole thread, I see I should update a little. We have expanded our "collection" a little. We did successfully win the ebay auction for the Sands of Iwo Jima movie poster, which I am looking at now as I sit at the computer. To the right of that is a framed montage that includes a John Wayne postage stamp (from Stagecoach), along with 3 other Western themed stamps (the poster is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the California Rodeo in Salinas, in 1990). Below that is a laser-cut wood picture of the Duke (a gift from our very own Hondo). We replaced our very ragged John Wayne life-sized cut-out with a new one. gunclick rick, if we haven't already welcomed you to the message board, on behalf of both Chester and myself, I'd like to do so at this time, and also thank you for posting those pictures. The picture of Tom Selleck is very good. Ivan Jesse Curtis was definitely a talented artist. Mrs. C :angel1: General Sterling Price May 5th, 2005, 10:34 AM I missed out on this topic earlier, but after some of those impressive lists, I don't know if anyone will care to hear that I just have two posters. One is the famous Hondo poster, carrying the saddle and rifle, with dog, and the other is a studio print, holding his rifle. GSP Maudy May 6th, 2005, 09:08 PM I am pretty proud of an Avon statue of the Duke as Bob Seton in "The Dark Command, it is from Avon's Images of Hollywood series.
