have to love the expressions on the Dukes face in some of these fight scene's. The one that sticks to my mind the most is in "The Wings of Eagles"

I picked The Quiet Man, but the best fist fight scene in Duke's career which is also the best in cinematic history according to many is The Spoilers with Marlene Dietrich, and Randolph Scott. This movie marked as the best fighting ever. You have to watch it. I really loved it myself. I have it on VHS; not on DVD yet. It may be discontinued on VHS. Not sure, but if you can get it, do it. I highly recommend the April 1942 movie.

;) Harry Carey was also in this movie.

I would have to say The Quiet Man the fight between John Wayne and Victor McLaglen is one or not the longest brawl ever filmed.

one of the best was in tall in the saddle with ward bond ,they got better at fist fights as time went on for instance a documentary i have called the duke some of his earlier movies with yakima canutt you could see how hard they were working on the fights to try and get them right because some were pretty shocking but that was one of there goals in those days to improve the fight scene because it was going to be a big part of jw's movies.

The Undefeated, is the most funniest John Wayne fist fight I think with Ben Johnson and Rock Hudson

Sunday, I watched The Fightin Kentuckian and I liked the brawling that went on over the gallon of rum. In all honesty, we Kentuckians would fight over ol grandpa's homemade moonshine. Lord, I know I would.

I'll echo Chilibill's selection. "The Quiet Man" stretched the final confrontation to an almost unheard of length, yet I don't think anyone complains since there is enough variety through the event to keep the action interesting. "McLintock" uses the mud slide to comedic ends and has enough people involved to provide variety.

I chose Wings of Eagles because it was the first movie I ever watched that had a great fist fight scene.

But THE best non John Wayne movie fist fight scenes have to go to Clint Eastwood's Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can, movies.

North To Alaska, particuarly the scene, outside in the mud, not only the barrel, dragged along on a wire, but Dukes toupee being knocked off, after being thumped!

THE QUIET MAN, hands down.
