SXViper January 31st, 2007, 10:48 PM Thanks Hondo, I wish they would get rid of those commercials on AMC, it would make it alot more enjoyable.
DakotaSurfer February 1st, 2007, 06:42 AM AMC used to be a no commercial station. Then I guess they couldn't make it without the money commercials bring in. There used to be a couple no commercial stations that had to start adding them. There is another John Wayne movie on that isn't released to DVD yet that I need to add to my collection. There were two of them on last week that I didn't catch in time. Lawless Nineties and Lonely Trail. But on Feb. 3rd is The New Frontier (1935). TVRip is better than nothing I guess.
Tbone February 1st, 2007, 10:10 AM Isn't Turner still commercial free? I try to catch as many movies as I can there when they come up.

Yes - TCM is still commercial free and the movies are uncut and (usually) in widescreen if that is the original format. Unfortunately, AMC, when it went to commercials, started shaving their offerings and they always have edited the movies for content.

Hondo Duke Lane February 1st, 2007, 07:55 PM Hey guys I am just the informer of upcoming Duke movies. Sorry that they have commercials but I do have it on DVD with no commercials and widescreen format. Including the full length movie version. We must be satisfied with what we have and not complain about everything. It would be nice if we could get what we want but this station is trying to make their costs. They use to have George Clooney's father introduce the movies on AMC, and they took that away. So if we want this to be commercial free, and edited for content free, then we must be willing to pay for it, and I'm afraid that there is not enough of us to make that happen. Turner Classic Movies has this still and I get it with my cable but it could happen to them too someday.
Cheers
chester7777 February 2nd, 2007, 01:25 AM I'm still holding out when it comes to getting cable or satellite, but now that you're mentioning that they might be showing Duke movies that aren't available anywhere else, it's getting mighty tempting :no2: .
Thanks for pointing this out to us, Surfer, as the titles you mentioned are ones I don't think I have.
Chester :newyear:
ethanedwards February 2nd, 2007, 04:11 AM I think these days a lot of us have most of the titles on DVD/VHS
It must be years since I saw or recorded a Duke film, off TV,
That I hadn't got!!
Here in the UK, We have what we call Freeview
which basically gives you lots of Digital
channels for free!
I cancelled my Sky satellite package,
as a result of this.
DakotaSurfer February 2nd, 2007, 07:16 AM Don't forget, tomorrow morning, Feb. 3rd at 6:15 AM EST on AMC - 1935 The New Frontier. Never released on DVD or VHS. Running time is: 54 minutes.
In case you miss it, it's also on Feb. 4th on AMC at 4:45 AM EST.
ethanedwards February 2nd, 2007, 08:01 AM 1935 The New Frontier. Never released on DVD or VHS. Running time is: 54 minutes.
DakotaSurfer,
You can record that one for me,
that's certainly a 'find'
Great to see they've found that one!
Harold February 2nd, 2007, 09:39 AM I see The High and Mighty is being shown on TCM no commercials
DakotaSurfer February 2nd, 2007, 12:43 PM High and Mighty is out on DVD already... it came out with a few others last summer. And I'll definitely be recording The Last Frontier. Hope you have a really long cable to grab a copy.
The Ringo Kid February 2nd, 2007, 03:30 PM Do you guys also notice that more and more often, they play at the same time, many of the Dukes films on two or three different TV stations? I noticed that lastnight/this morning. The ONLY other actor whos movies I have seen being played on two different channels (that I get) at the same time is: Clint Eastwood, and that happened only once.
DakotaSurfer February 3rd, 2007, 10:50 AM Well, I got a really good recording of "The New Frontier". Getting rid of the commercials, the running time matches with the original time so they didn't crop or cut anything from the movie. That's another great movie added to my collection. Did anyone else grab?
I made what's called a home compilation with a Panasonic DMR in SP recording mode. The ISO file is less than 2 GB.
