I don't know how many movies he wore it in, but I do know he wore it on his guest appearance on "The Jonathan Winters Show". Here is the image of him wearing it.

Howard Hawks gave Duke the belt buckle as a present for his superb performance in Red River, Duke said that he wore it in some of his movies as a good luck charm seems to have worked as most of these movies are excellent.

I think the 1st movie he wore it in was "Island in the Sky"
