Thanks to the Barons posting on the 9th of RareVidio.com I was able to get a fine copy of Island in the Sky. After watching the movie I have a question to post.
What was the name painted on the side of the Transport plane under the cockpit?

Monique,
That would be a Douglas DC-3/C-47 with the name "Corsair" painted below the cockpit.

I would like to know, how was your copy of the movie?? Acceptable?? If so, I am glad, as it is hard to find these movies.
As for your question, here is an image of the lobby card from the movie.

It's more than likely that's the name of the company that flew cargo for the Air Force. My father did this (during the 60's) in a C-46 Curtiss Commando, which is simular, for Riddle Airlines. Later (in the 70's) he flew a Lockeed Electra for Universal Airlines for the military. That's why I enjoy this movie, my father had done this for a living. :( Sorry, more usless info from me.

Hey, Baron, don't apologize, and it's NOT useless information.
It's stuff like what you've shared that gives this board so much personality, and generates so much enthusiasm, and helps us to see what an influence parents can be on their children, and gives us insight as to why the Duke's movies are special to us.
Keep up the great posting (and don't spit into the wind)! :P
