Wayne mentioned a statue unveiling in Winterset, I wonder what that one is. Photos sound great to add to the collections.

Hi
It's amazing so many years after his death and honouring his hundred years that he is liked and respected enough to have statues put up to his memory.
I wonder how many of todays stars with get the same treatment.

I may try to get to the unveiling at the Cowboy Hall of Fame. That won't be much of a drive for me. Where did you hear about this Brick? I couldn't find anything on their web site.

T -bone here is the e-mail from Chuck Schroeder, May 26 is opening day for our annual Chuck Wagon Gathering and
Children's Cowboy Festival which draws about 8,000 people from 30
states. So, we won't be doing anything specifically focused on The Duke
at that time. However, if everything comes together with the artist, we
will be unveiling a heroic-sized bronze of John Wayne on the National
Day of the American Cowboy, July 28.

Thanks Brick!
I've always heard good things about that Chuck Wagon Gathering. Being close to the Duke's birthday, that might be a great way to celebrate it.
Thanks again for the info!

Not sure what the statue at the Cowboy Hall of Fame will look like, but this is the larger-than-life statue Ethan and the Wayne family will be dedicating in Winterset, Iowa on May 26th at the groundbreaking for the New John Wayne Museum and Learning Center adjacent to his birthplace home. There's still a bit of packing material showing in this image from Wayne Enterprises, but it gives you a good idea of what it will look like.
We're also seeing if we can make the "groundbreaking" a little more interesting. There's presently an ancient gas station on the site that is quite an eyesore, and our plan is to seat Ethan on a bulldozer with a gold-painted blade and have him drive that into the gas station to start the demolition! A bit more 'visual' for the TV news that way.
