View Full Version : New Item for the Centenial
Tbone May 8th, 2007, 09:37 AM Looks like Daisy is making a commemorative bb gun. I'm betting it's one you wouldn't want to let you kid shoot though. Notice they don't have a price listed.

Don't you think the Duke would rather have something out there his young fans could have and not feel guilty using?!
DakotaSurfer May 8th, 2007, 10:12 AM Just a simple phone call... the price is $295 plus shipping. And they ship UPS.
Tbone May 8th, 2007, 11:39 AM Bout what I figured...:glare:
For that price you could get your kid something more to shoot than a bb gun.
DakotaSurfer May 8th, 2007, 12:02 PM They probably figure posting the price will scare too many away but I wasn't going to give out my driver's license number just to get a quote.
Lt. Brannigan May 8th, 2007, 02:02 PM Meh... if it's for kids it should be made affordable. And since DS is convinced I am stalking him, I will dress for the part.
Ethan May 8th, 2007, 03:07 PM That must be some BB gun for that price. Did you see this on their website ? That's where I'm going after I'm done here. Got to check this out. My brother has a boy turning 8, so he might be interested. Come to think of it I wonder what my old daisy is worth? Probably not much but than I've had it since I was 8.
Regards
Ethan
SXViper May 8th, 2007, 03:22 PM I have a Red Rider commemorative edition Daisy BB gun that is hanging over my fireplace in the basement. I am not sure what that is worth but I am sure its not worth no $300. I would be careful though, if this is not listed on the Daisy website it maybe a scam by a 3rd party trying to make money for using Duke's 100th B-Day.
Tbone May 8th, 2007, 04:03 PM Viper, I think Daisy is only acting as the manufacturer. This other outfit is handling distribution. You won't find the gun on Daisy's web site.
SXViper May 8th, 2007, 04:12 PM I would think that if it was something such as a special edition like this that Daisy would be promoting the heck out of it.
I did check there site and they have nothing in regards to the gun. I also checked out the "where to buy" section and there distributors don't list the gun either. It may be legit but it sure looks "fishy".
DakotaSurfer May 8th, 2007, 04:21 PM The guy on the phone sounded like he answered for more than one company. The guns are numbered and come with a COA so they are collectible just a little high priced for a BB-gun.
The Ringo Kid May 8th, 2007, 07:07 PM Still, if that BB Gun (and the site listing it) is legit, that is a beautiful Daisy. I used to have one and must have fired that thing at hundreds of toy soldiers nailed on the fence in our backyard.
To give some perspective on price. I bought (about 15 years ago) an all-matching M1 Garand for that price. I bought my first Walther P-38 for that price. These Walthers can command more than a grand on todays market.
That $295.00 is about half the price I paid for my S-42 K-98 Mauser Sniper variant.
Ethan May 8th, 2007, 11:46 PM Hey Viper you might just be surprised at what that BB gun of yours is worth. My little brother left me a message on the answering machine and told me my Daisy is worth $275-$325. And mines a plain jane. I don't know where he got his info, but sounds kind of high to me. But then again I might have some extra beer fund moola I did'nt know about!!!!!
Anyone know where you can check this stuff out?
Regards
Ethan

Ringo,
I wish I'd gotten an M1 back when my college buddies did. Could have had it for $168. The only problem is I didn't have $168.

Hi Tbone--I hear ya on that. I was a poor college student not too many years ago and barely was able to pay the bills--let alone buying rifles.
One thing I can suggest to you if you are interested? is that the U.S. Govt is selling off their Garands at I think $300.00 each one per household. The bad thing is, is that the serial numbers are not matching numbers. Other than that, these make great hunting rifles and are in good condition. I know a local guy here who puts on gunshows who has a mint all matching M1 Garand for sale--$3,500.00. I saw that beauty about 6 years ago--then wa spriced at $3,000. It has O.D. Green parkerization. I had a Remington Rand Colt 45 (which had been LtGen Francis P. Hardaways gun. Hardaway had been an Artillery General serving with MacArthur. I wish I had never got rid of that gun.
