The John Wayne Movie Festival will show “Stagecoach,” “The Horse Soldiers,” “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance,” “Red River,” “Hondo,” “Island in the Sky,” “In Harm’s Way” and “Big Jake.”

A birthday party for “The Duke,” will be hosted May 26, at the Dixie Theater. The theater will serve cake, offer a prize for the best John Wayne look alike and the opportunity to take your own photos with the life-size John Wayne. The festival will end Saturday evening with an 8 p.m. showing of “The Quiet Man.” Additional information can be found on The Dixie Theater’s website [Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) or by calling 1 + 540-885-8445.

It's amazing how many people are paying homage to the Duke.

How cool is that? Makes me wish I really could be in more than one place at one time . . . Staunton, VA; Winterset, IA; Eagar, AZ . . . . There are probably tons of activities that we'll never hear about in addition to those we already know about.
