I received a letter from Tom Lilley today because we did some business with some memorabilia. His letter says thet Big Trail Publishing will be rolling out a new re-edited, refreshed and reprinted hardcover edition of the book: Campfire Conversations except that he is calling this one the Deluxe Centennial Edition.

It contains interviews that Tom Lilley did with many of The Duke's family and friends. The original 121 page book had 12 interviews and he is adding another 14 interviews from the vaults. New conversations included are ones with Ethan and Patrick Wayne.

The interviews included will be with: Aissa, Ethan, Patrick and Pilar Wayne. John Agar, Jim Burk, Harry Carey, Jr., Robert Donner, Eddy Donno, John Epper, Chuck Hayward, Ben Johnson, Anna Lee, Paul Malvern, Andrew V. McLaglen, Gary McLarty, Bob Morgan, Boyd "Red" Morgan, Hal Needham, Maureen O'Hara, Gil Perkins, Denver Pyle, Chuck Roberson, Dean Smith, Neil Summers, Ted White, Jack Williams and Terry Wilson.

Tim will be kicking off the book campaign at Winterset on Saturday, May 26th, by selling it for $25, that's $5 off the regular price of $30. After the celebration it goes back to $30 plus $3 shipping.

Tom is going to be at Winterset and may be able to pick mine up there. He is going to be at the emporium.

That's good news since I will be there in person!!

He was there all day Saturday and I missed him. No one could decide where he was and he was under the tent next to the gift shop all along. Bummer... I can't wait to get his new book and read the new conversations.

When I was there on Sunday he was gone but some guy named Roger Crowley was there selling his book "John Wayne-An American Legend". He was out of his books so I will have to call him to order it.

Crowley told me Tom only stayed one day. There was a hugh stack of his books but he was sending me mine so I didn't buy one but I did buy both of Crowley's books and talked to Chris. Took me by surprise when Chris ended up being a woman. She co-authored the book: The Young Duke. Tom emailed me today and told me my book was in the mail.

I got a postcard in the mail from Tim Lilley, which says -

I have been trying to find a copy of Campfire Conversations with no luck. The author himself (Tim Lilley) is sold out of copies. I've been through all of the usual secondhand sites on the web and can't find any copies there either.

Does anyone have a source for a copy of this book? Or, if not, would someone with a copy take pity on me and scan in or send me a xerox of the interview with Ben Johnson?

I'd love to read the entire book of course but there just doesn't seem to be a copy of it available anywhere. :(
