View Full Version : Daniel Boone Season 1, w/ duke co-stars.
The Ringo Kid June 1st, 2007, 05:49 PM Off hand, one I can think of that was a regular co-star with him that was in a Daniel Boone season 1 episode was: Bruce Cabot. I remember seeing a few other "faces" as well but can't recall their names at this time. This series did seem to have lots of recognizable people in them.
The Ringo Kid June 2nd, 2007, 04:47 PM Now boys and girls, lets all sing together this tune.
Daniel Boone was a mann, yes a biiig man,
with eyes like an eagle and tall as a mountain was he.
Daniel Boone was a mann, yes a biiig man,
he was fightin' for Americans to keep all Americans freeee.
From the coonskin cap on top of ol' Dan, to the heel of his buckskin shoooooo.
the rippinest, roarinest, fightenest man the frontier ever knewwww.
What a Boone what a doer,
what a dream come a truer,
what a Boone what a doer,
what a dream come a truer,
waaassss heeeeeeeeeeeee!
Im kinda surprised only JIm, Sue and myself seem to have an interest in that Tv series?
The Ringo Kid June 4th, 2007, 04:32 PM Found another Duke co-star in this series: Anna Lee. Folks, yer missin' out on some great TV watching!

Sorry Ringo, I have always hated that show. I always thought the "Disney-fied" Fess Parker always appeared to have the I.Q. of a squirrel (and not a very bright one at that). In addition, I seem to remember the stories were always week and full of plot holes and a lack of continuity and the supporting cast was consistently annoying. Although you are right in that the show always had great guest stars appearing on it. Another show that I have always HATED was Bonanza, for many of the same reasons.
But I will confess right here and now that I am not a big fan of TV dramas in general. I've always preferred classic TV comedies like I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, Gilligan's Island, Happy Days, Hogan's Heroes, Green Acres, & The Beverly Hillbillies. For some reason, I've always thought that comedy played out much better on the small screen than drama.
chester7777 June 21st, 2007, 09:34 AM ej,
I agree with you that the show had its weak moments and plot holes, but that's some of the fun parts as we're sitting around watching it with the kids - we can kind of ridicule that stuff - it's part of the entertainment. I do enjoy the Beverly Hillbillies, though. And how about The Dukes of Hazard??

Hi EJ, yeah, I guess I can see it from your point of view. I too noticed the series was Disneyafied a bit but, as a first time watcher of this show--I found it very well done and have greatly enjoyed probably 28 of the 32 episodes from season 1. Season 2 is on its way but I probably will not get it in for about 2 weeks.
I do greatly agree with you on the shows you listed. I grew up watching most of them as re-runs and admit I liked them all. Hogan's Heroes, Andy Griffith are two that I never tire of. In fact, I made a trade deal of sorts with a friend of mine in Washington (state) and I will now be getting seasons 4-5- and 6 of Hogan's Heroes, on DvD. And these movies: Hell and High Water, Fixed Bayonets and Unconquered.
I guess my point in all of this is that I like the older shows much much better and cannot stane any of the new ones. The last "new" show I really liked, after I discovered it that is, had been off the air for almost a year. That show was Becker.

I grew up watching The Dukes of Hazzard. I liked the show alot as well as the entire cast. I also watched (while it lasted) a spin-off from the show called: Enos. The only time I did not really enjoy that show was when "Cory & Vance" took the place of Bo & Luke.

Didn't see those episodes, were they shot because Bo & Luke wanted more money?

If I remember correctly, yep, Bo & Luke wanted more money. I think they missed the better part of a full season.
Also, I was doing some more research on the Daniel Boone TV series, and man o man, there are literally tons, more great guest stars Im looking forward to seeing.
chester7777 June 24th, 2007, 06:31 AM One of the regulars on the show was Ed Ames, as Mingo, Daniel's faithful Indian friend. One time, Ed Ames was one of the guests on the Johnny Carson show, and Johnny had a big outline of a man on a big board on stage and invited Ed to show off his tomahawk throwing skills. Ed flung that thing at the silhouette, and three guesses where it landed?? And the first two don't count
Needless to say, there was quite a bit of laughing going on at that point, as Johnny pointedly crossed his legs tightly and held his hands over a critical part of the male anatomy protectively.
We saw that on one of Johnny's anniversary shows, and I think it is one of the highlights included in a Johnny Carson DVD set.
Pretty funny!

The Ringo Kid June 25th, 2007, 06:49 PM Heh heh, I have heard that story about Ed Ames and throwing a tomahawk while on the Tonight Show--never seen the clip before though.

Chester :newyear:If I remember correctly, Bo and Luke said they were the show.
Everybody else thought the General Lee was the show, but when the ratings plummeted, guess who came back the next season?
The Ringo Kid June 25th, 2007, 06:57 PM I don't thing Dukes--made much of a comeback after the Cory/Vance disaster. I remember it lasted a few more years but then really became a very silly show.

Oh really? I had not noticed that. In fact, I had not known he was in any of Dukes movies.

I think I might start calling you eagle eye ;-))
There are probably several not listed that were also in some Duke movies. I didn't list them because I did not recognize their names. Now that im 40, guess my memory is gone as well :-D
