Hi folks, need some help for an article in a German journal about the Duke as a horseman. German literature is, well quite scarce when it comes to the riding skills of John Wayne. Are there any recommendations for English publications or a contact? Where did Wayne learn to ride, did he prefer certain breeds or individual horses? Did he have a trainer? I think I remember an American documantary which ran on German TV some while ago, which mentioned that John Wayne asn't much fond of horses though he owned a big ranch in the Middle West. Would be nice if someone could give me some hints,

Duke learned to Ride Horse Back when He was a Young Boy out on the Mojave Desert in California near L.A., when he had to Ride Horse Back 7 Miles to School every day.

Duke was Very Good on Horse Back, and You could tell it was Duke in the Saddle from a Mile Away !

After Duke's Old Mare Died that He Loved Very Much when He was a Young Boy, Duke said that He Never wanted to Get that Attached to another Horse Again !

Duke had Two Large Ranches here in the Southwest in Arizona. One was Called "The Red River Land And Cattle" and the other one where I am at is Called "The 26 Bar Ranch."
