View Full Version : Off Topic and Antagonistic Posts
chester7777 October 10th, 2007, 11:28 AM Recently, many topics have been derailed with seriously off-topic discussions quite divergent from the original thread. At the same time, there has been a certain degree of confrontational or antagonistic comments as a result. TOO much time is being spent by the moderators chasing down and clearing them out.
If you want to chat with someone about something that is off topic to a thread, please use PMs or the chat room to do it.
BE WARNED - Posts that are as described above will be deleted without notice, and possibly will cause your account to be moderated.

DukePilgrim October 10th, 2007, 04:27 PM You and the other Moderators have my full support Chester. This should be a forum primarily about John Wayne.
Feel free to take any "spring cleaning action" you feel is necessary.
Best
Mike

About time too!
It has been hard to dodge the bullets around here recently!!
Thanks Chester. After all we can all disagree at times but hey we are all JW fans so that also makes us kindred spirits, so can we disagree in a friendlier manner.
Please?
Elly
Jay J. Foraker October 10th, 2007, 04:44 PM Thank you, Chester - there's been too much naysaying here recently!

The Ringo Kid October 10th, 2007, 06:20 PM Fully agreed, and I know im one to blame.
Kevin October 10th, 2007, 06:25 PM ditto! I couldn't agree more, Jim.
erthomp143 October 10th, 2007, 07:19 PM After reading this post I got to thinking…. And I wonder what would JW like better, plain or peanut M&M’s... oh wait on topic… sorry about that I have a tendency to drift off from time to time. It has become somewhat of a problem for me. I wonder often if it has something to do with age or … oh wait there I go again. I mean if any admin feels the need to delete one of my posts without warning they can just go and … oh wait not that either… jezz I am really blowing it. I mean I just wonder what gets into me sometimes. You know it seems that sometimes not matter what I try… oh wait dang it off topic again… :stunned:
I agree and the admins are doing a great job…
chester7777 October 11th, 2007, 08:26 AM Thanks, everybody, for your support and understanding!

Tbone October 11th, 2007, 11:13 AM I appreciate the work of the moderators and I know I've been guilty at times of shifting the topic. I think partly it could be because this feels more like you're chatting on a friend's front porch than in a message board and sometimes things just tend to flow in "conversation". Not a justification, just an observation.
Thanks for all the hard work you moderators do to make this a great board!
chester7777 October 11th, 2007, 11:45 AM Tbone,
Your point is well taken, and I have to admit to being just as guilty. I fully accept that occasional straying is part of the conversational aspect of our message board, part of any discussion among friends. But when a topic is seriously derailed and/or a major negative atmosphere develops, that is another issue entirely, and that is really what I was addressing. There has been entirely too much of that lately.
We appreciate your presence here, and your comments, and your support.
Thanks!
