Howdy All,
Well, I am lacking only three film soundtracks from John Wayne films to complete the soundtrack portion of my collection. I cannot seem to find the motion picture soundtracks for: "The Sands of Iwo Jima," "The Shootist," and "The High and the Mighty." Does anyone know where I can find these? I have tried ebay and multiple google searches, but no luck. I hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Colorado Bob

Hi Bob

No details on exclusive soundtrack recordings for those three movies

The attached are compilation CDs.

3 OST Soundtracks for The Shootist are on this CD

Hi Mike,
I have those two, however, I would like to get the full soundtracks if I can find them. I keep finding references to them online, on various sites, but cannot seem to find the actual albums themselves. I'll keep looking though. I recently won The Barbarian and the Geisha on ebay. Although I don't think it was one of Duke's best films, the soundtrack is actually quite nice. I'll keep looking though, since that's half the fun of collecting John Wayne! Thanks again, and take care.
Best Always,
Bob

Hey, Bob:
The soundtrack from The High and The Mighty is on CD but it is a promotional copy. It is a Gena and it is a Fly 0295.54
Have you seen the Ricky Nelson on CD? It has Rio Bravo; DeGuello; My Rifle, My Pony and Me; Cindy and Restless Kid. It is a Magic and you can get it from www.magic-records.com (http://www.magic-records.com)
The Shootist cannot be found except as noted by DukePilgrim.

Hope this helps.

Howdy wbbison,
Thanks for the info. I have contacted Varese Saraband and asked about The Shootist soundtrack, as they are the ones who released it, but I haven't heard back from them. Do you know of any way I can contact "Gena" and "Fly" to inquire as to The High and The Mighty? And do you know where I can obtain a CD or LP or Cassette of The High and The Mighty and Sands of Iwo Jima? Even if its a copy. I'd rather have the originals if I can or even a re-release, but what the heck, it's more the music I'm after than the cover art, so I'd take a copy even.

Hello Colorado Bob:
I doubt that you will hear back from Varese Saraband. As for Sands of Iwo Jima and The High and The Mighty LP's you can try eBay. They go for something like $40. As far as CD's from LP's I would gladly do them for you but I can't seem to get my turn table and my CD off my computer. If you or someone ca help me to get it worked out....... You have to understand that I'm suffering from the after effects of a stroke.

Hello wbbison,
Yeah I kind of figured Varese would blow me off, but I keep hoping. I try to check ebay every couple of days, and have managed to land some fairly rare John Wayne albums of commercials and radio spots and such, and I'll keep looking for High and the Mighty, and Sands of Iwo Jima. I am not sure I understand what you mean about removing your turn table and CD off your computer. Are they somehow attached to it? I use a program called Microsoft Digital Media Plus which allows me to hookup my turntable or CD/Cassette player to my computer with a patch cord, and then record directly to my computer which converts analog to digital, and then burn the recording to a CD. If there is anyway I can help you with your computer problem, just let me know, and I'll do what I can.
Best Always,
Bob
