Great piece! I wish the photo of the front of the mug was a little clearer. You should repost new pics here on the site so the rest of the forum can check them out!

The company I work for (The Golden Closet) actually had a pretty impressive collection of these at one time. The owner purchased a lot at auction (I believe it was a Profiles in History event) and they were pretty amazing. We had one from McQ, another from The Hellfighters, and I think a Rooster Cogburn, along with several others.

John Wayne was a truly generous soul, and personally had these mugs made for friends and crew members to give as gifts after the wrap of production. He often went to the extra length of having the names of the recipients added to them before the mugs were fired. Quite a guy!
