When I joined this fan club I forgot to mention that I have the Honor of living in the same town that John Wayne once lived in 1914, which happens to be Lancaster CA, where I am from. When one reads of John Wayne early life one will read that he lived in the Antelope Valley. Some say it was Lancaster or Palmdale. It really does not matter either way. When I first learned of this ten years ago, I was surprised by it.

He came here because his father, Clyde Morrison was in bad health and wanted find a drier climate so moved to the Mojave Desert from Winterset Iowa. Wayne or Marion Morrison then, rode his horse to school. He did not like it here because he was afraid of the snakes and stuff. Wayne and his family did not live here in the Antelope Valley very long but it is recorded in his life that he once lived here. Which will always be special to me and those here in Valley who are great fans of his.

When posted my message that John Wayne onced lived in Antelope Valley, I forgot to mention that there is not a musem about him There is no statutes of him or a plaque that indicates exactly where lived at here in Lancaster. Personally I kind of think it is sad that we do not have in anything in his memory.

I found a website talking about John Wayne. It mentions in great detail about him and his family living in Lancaster. So here it is
WashingtonPost.com: John Wayne: American (http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkjkX635HXeMAoPNXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEyOWRzcmg yBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMTIEY29sbwNzazEEdnRpZAMEbANXUzE-/SIG=12t99nfda/EXP=1199586455/**http%3a/www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/longterm/books/chap1/wayne.htm)

Wayne001, welcome to this great site. You mention that there is no marker of him living in your town. Do you have any idea where he and his family might have lived? I couldn't pull up the site above. It read an error so I don't know what it said.

Cheers  Hondo
