I just purchased a Liteon DVD-rom {$40} for my computer. The first thing I did was to play several John Wayne movies on it. You would not belive the clarity of the movies, even the older titles produced by Artistan. With the high resolution moniter of the computer, it brings out the colors even better than TV! I can't say if Hi Definition TV is equal as I don't have one to compare it to. But a DVD-rom is the next best thing! I recomend one for your John Wayne DVDs.

I have noticed on thing though. The Quiet Man has a terrible green tint about it and it's not very crisp like the other movies. Mine is put out by Artistan and the newer movie is a SE version also by them. It has been digitally mastered, so it had to have been the way they filmed it. If anyone has the newer version on "TQM", does it have the green tint also? It was filmed in Technicolor. I still enjoy the movie, I just don't know why its so blurred.

Any comments?? B)

My Quiet Man VHS has the same problem, don't know why or anything along that line though. I will say that I love the DVD Rom also. I have my laptop and have watched many a flick on it.

Big Jim,
I have used the Hossmans Laptop at the old sight many I time to watch movies. But I found that the Water was off Limits. Well I'm going to have to buy a laptop so I can watch John Wayne movies.

Thats one of the best things about DVDs, they look terrific. Another thing that my son and I have done with my DVD rom is make a sound pack for a game I have. I've taken sounds from "Operation Pacific" and made voice commands for "Silent Service" cd-rom game. Now I have John Wayne, Ward Bond, and company giving orders on the sub.
We put it on another message board for others to download and the response has been well so far.

I have a DVD-ROM on my computer, and really enjoy the features that I get on my viewing. I didn't know you could record excerts from DVD's and use them for messages, etc. Love to know how to do that.

Thanks Baron
