To Rock Hudson (Col. Langdon) in The Undefeated.

I am pretty sure the man above is right. The Undefeated was a decent action film, and Rock Hudson and the Duke had good on screen chemistry.

I think Araner is right  Just before JW and Rock Hudson ride out to talk with the bandit leader

Ain't that the scene from Fort Apache - when ole Hank Fonda answers something like "You seem to be impressed by numbers very easily, Captain..."?

Robbie
August 8th, 2003, 05:57 PM
That lines defiently not from the undefeated, I think Itdo's right its "Fort Apache".

Andy,

Sounds good to me! It seems a few of us have done this over the years. Another thread is here (http://www.dukewayne.com/showthread.php?p=64771), where you can see what questions have already been asked. It looks like I dropped the ball quite a while ago (or maybe nobody responded to that last question? I don't know.).

Anyway, feel free to use whatever format is comfortable for you. I attempted something similar to what Mark (dukefan1) uses in the "What Movie is It?" game, but you may find something different works for you (BTW, I developed a whole new respect for what Mark does every week. His reliability and dedication are to be applauded!!).

However you choose to do it, I'm sure we'll have fun!!

Well-I guess I will give it a try and see what happens. I will post a question and the answer to the previous question every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to keep it moving along. Some of the questions are easy some hard. Let's see what happens and if the group wants to participate.

OK-Here we go, this is the first question, it is rather easy, but I have added some twists.

What was the name of the submarine Wayne commanded in OPERATION PACIFIC from 1951? Who was his female co-star and what other film did she star with Duke?
Good Luck

This will be a fun game, Andy. I only have one suggestion, that you have the members PM you with their answers and you post the winners with your next question. That way, more people get to try and answer the question instead of just the first person who logged in and knew it. It's just a suggestion. The game is yours to run how you feel.

Now, to answer you're quiz, I'll take a stab. The Sub was the Thunderfish. His co-star was Patricia Neal. she also acted with Duke in the film In Harm's Way.

That is a great idea, a PM will be great and I will post the winners as suggested. The answer is correct . As a side note, anyone wanting an autograph from Patricia Neal can get one personalized by her by sending a request to her address of:
Patricia Neal
45E End Ave.
4-c
New York, NY 10028
USA
The next question will be Wednesday.
Thank You

Good job, Andy and Mark!

Andy, very nice touch to add that info about Patricia Neal, which ties in with the question.

Looking forward to the next one!

I have had a few guesses, no correct answer yet, I guess this is a hard one??????

I had many guesses, STAGECOACH, RED RIVER, THE LONG VOYAGE HOME, none of these were the correct answer,:cry2: though Stagecoach and Red River are on a later list. The correct answer is THE SEARCHERS. I tied it in with ChiliBill's The Searchers thread, but no one guessed it.

Today's question will be easier.
Impressionists often use the word "pilgrim" when doing John Wayne. In only 2 films did Duke actually call someone Pilgrim, name the 2 films...Please PM your answer to me.
Good Luck

Everyone who responded got the correct answer, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE and MCCLINTOCK.
Todays question is also on the easy side:
In BRANNIGAN Duke twice surprised the bad guys with a similar but unorthodox entrances and uttered the same phrase both times, WHAT WAS IT?
Please PM your answers to me.
Good Luck

This question was way too easy, eveyone got the correct answer. The Duke would kick down the door and say, "knock, knock".

Todays question will be tougher.
After a run-in with the King George's men under George Sanders command, what order did John Wayne give his band of rebels in ALLEGHENY UPRISING(1939)?
Please PM your answer.
Good Luck

No one even tried this one, I am not posting the answer, I will leave it up there for the future. I guess I have to stick to the easy ones.

Under what name did the Wayne character box in THE QUIET MAN??
Please PM me your answer for this EEEAAASSSYYYY one.

I received a couple of correct answers and a couple of close ones. The correct answer is: JW boxed under the name Trooper Thorn. I received many Sean Thorton, but that was not his boxing name.

Todays question:
Who played Wayne leading lady Vera Ralston's father in their 2 films together?? A hint-he was a B-movie director.

PM me your answer Good Luck

I thought this would be harder, but everyone who replied got it correct, Hugo Haas.
Todays question:
"They outnumber us four to one. Do we talk or fight?" To whom did John Wayne pose this question and in what film?
Good Luck have a good weekend,
