Here is something from Hong Kong Standard. Kinda of interesting, and a little dated.

Tim Shipman

Monday, December 31, 2007

He is arguably the greatest hero in the history of American cinema, a leader of men who beat the bad guys and symbolized patriotic values. But here in the birthplace of John Wayne, in the snowy wilds of an Iowa winter, the United States is picking another leader - a president to command the respect of modern America and deal with the world's villains, who these days wear suicide-bomb belts rather than Stetsons and Colt 45s.

On Thursday, the world's most important - and protracted - democratic process gets under way when voters in this Midwest cornbelt state become the first to pick their presidential candidates. The result of the Iowa caucuses, a series of town-hall votes, will help answer the question gripping the nation: is America, the land of John Wayne machismo, ready to elect Hillary Clinton its first woman president?

Declared a shoo-in by her own advisers over the summer, Clinton now finds herself locked in a three-way tie with Barack Obama and John Edwards for victory in Iowa, the state that begins the battle to secure the White House nominations.

Defeat for Clinton in Iowa would be hugely embarrassing and severely damage her chances in the rest of the contest.

The final post-Christmas frenzy of campaigning proves that many Iowa voters are still looking for a president who offers the reassuring certainties of John Wayne's world, while the increasingly bitter exchanges between the candidates resemble a shoot-out from one of the Duke's Westerns.

The challenge Clinton faces is clear in Winterset, where Wayne was born in 1907.
At the Wayne birthplace museum, Glenna Finney, 67, a tour guide, has no time for Clinton, or the memory of her husband's White House dalliance with Monica Lewinsky.
"The majority of people here are retired and they are Republicans," she said. "I don't think they're ready for a woman president. Some of them have a hard time having a female pastor. People here expect you to have manners. A decent name is to be treasured. How will President Clinton be remembered? Not for any of the good things he did. Where was his decency?

"There's nothing badly wrong with this good old America that John Wayne couldn't have fixed. It was Midwest values that made him so strong. I'm looking for someone who offers leadership, honesty and integrity."

In Des Moines, Iowa's state capital, drivers tooted their horns on Friday as John Strong, 66, a former soldier, brandished a banner reading "Veterans Against Hillary." He has become a familiar sight at campaign events in the city, accompanied by a Hallowe'en effigy of Clinton in a witch's hat. "I don't mind her being a woman, but she is weak on national defense and she's very condescending and nasty," he said.

"She is part of the liberal elite and she is a fake when she says she cares about regular people."

Clinton may not look or sound like John Wayne (who was friends with Ronald Reagan), but she fights like him and provokes similar macho posturing from her Democrat rivals.
The Wayne museum gift shop sells mugs bearing his famous dictum: "Talk low, talk slow and don't talk too much."

There is precious little chance of anyone obeying that in Iowa this week.

Not much to say......

I do hope she wins the democratic nomination as she would be easier to defeat then Obama. She has alot of baggage and tends to insert her foot in her mouth alot.

She is mean and fights dirty and somewhere down the line she will make a mistake. It looks likely that she will win the nomination but it is a long way to November and the mask will slip at some point.

If she does get elected, we will witness one of the greatest "nuzzling up to the trough"
this Country has ever witnessed. Unfortunately the "trough" is almost empty.

And that is thanks to it and it's husband. BOY were those two some really rotten resid--(rather) rodents-living in the White House.

One wonders if all of the property they stole when they moved out, was ever returned? Somehow, I really doubt it.

That "is" was some antique furniture, dishware and I think some paintings? I can't remember what all I had heard that they took?

I know it's not over yet but, right now, it looks like Hillary will be on the outside looking in. Barack Obama is ahead of her in delegates and if he can take some upcoming big primaires in Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas and, Pennsylvania and, Indiana, she will be finished. According to political commentator Dick Morris, who was one of Bills advisors back in the early 90's, he thinks Obama will win the nomination and that Hillary will not take those states I just mentioned, except for the possiblity of Texas. Morris also says she changed her strategy from a campaign of change to a campaign of her being more experienced than Obama. The American people don't want to hear about how experienced she is. First of all, everything she claims as her experience is not hers but, her husbands. And the people of this country want someone who is going to new, vibrant and change things from the they've been under the two Bushes and Bill Clinton. Plus, most folks in this country don't want to see a Bush-Clinton dynasty.
If Hillary fails to win the nomination, I can see her serving out her current term as Senator from NY, then calling it quits as a powerful politician. She thought she had it all wrapped up and losing it would be a big blow for one super ambitious power hungry person.

Hillary was in San Antonio yesterday.:vomit: She appeared at a rally at St. Mary's University.
She got on the bad side of the Archbishop Jose Gomez because the prelate was not notified of her coming, much less appearing at the University. Besides that, the Archbishop is not happy with her views on abortion.

So Mark, are we to assume you're ready to surrender the world as we know it to Islamization?

Hope you don't have any women in your family who, as we know, will be treated as sub-humans by the mullahs.

I get sick of people comparing how many troops have died in Iraq. I agree, 1 life gone is a bad thing and even worse for the immediate families. And there is no comfort in showing you a email that was sent to me. Being a ex-serviceman, I applaud all our troops and other contries that fight beside us. But don't buy into the media hype about all the troops that have died during this "conflict". Check this out, also there is a link in the middle of the note if you think that the email is a fraud.

MILITARY DEATHS FOR TWENTY SIX YEARS
Bet you didn't know the following! I surely did not.. These are some rather eye-opening facts: Since the start of the war on terror in Iraq and Afganistan , the sacrifice has been enormous. In the time period from the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 through now, we have lost over 3000 military personnel to enemy action and accidents. As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is, consider the following statistics: The annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through 2006:

1980 ......... 2,392
1981 ......... 2,380
1984 ........ 1,999
1988 ........ 1,819
1989 ........ 1,636
1990 ........ 1,508
1991 ..........1,787
1992 ........1,293----------------------------------------------------
1993 ........ 1,213
1994 .......... 1,075
1995 .........2,465
1996 ........ 2,318 8 Clinton years @13,417 deaths
1997 .......... 817
1998 ......... 2,252
1999 .......... 1,984 -------------------------------------------------
2000 ........ 1,983
2001 .......... 890
2002 ........ 1,007 7 BUSH years @ 9,016 deaths
2003 ........ 1,410
2004 .......... 1,887
2005 ......... 919
2006.......... 920 ------------------------------------------------------------

If you are confused when you look at these figures...so was I.

Do these figures mean that the loss from the two latest conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during Mr. Clinton 's presidency; when America wasn't even involved in a war? And, I was even more confused; when I read that in 1980, during the reign of President
(Nobel Peace Prize) Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities!

These figures indicate that many of our Media & Politicians will pick and choose. They present only those 'facts' which support their agenda-driven reporting. Why do so many of them march in lock-step to twist the truth. Where do so many of them get their marching-orders for their agenda?
Our Mainstream Print and TV media, and many Politicians like to slant; that these brave men and women, who are losing their lives in Iraq, are mostly minorities! Wrong AGAIN--- just one more media lie! The latest census, of Americans, shows the following distribution of American citizens, by Race:
European descent (White) .... 69.12%
Hispanic ............................... 12.5%
Black.................................... 12.3%
Asian ..................................... 3.7%
Native American ................... . 1.0%
Other ..................................... 2.6%
Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom:
European descent (white) .... 74.31%
Hispanic ......................... 10.74%
Black ................................... 9.67%
Asian .............................. . 1.81%
Native American ................. 1.09%
Other .................................... . 33%
These statistics are published by Congressional Research Service, and they may be confirmed by anyone at: http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf

Now ask yourself these two questions:
1. 'Why does the mainstream Print and TV Media never provide statistics like these?'

2. 'Why does the mainstream media hate the web as much as they do?'

You do the Math! These figures don't lie... but, Media-liars figure...and they sway public opinion!

You know the answer to those questions as well as I do, Todd.

The "mainstream" media never provides those stats because to do so would damage the credibility of people like Pelosi, Reid, Murtha and their ilk. And since numerous studies have shown that about 95 percent of America's reporters are left-wing Dummicrats, that means they don't wanna damage the credibility of their ideological cohorts.

And the reason they hate the web is that for a much-needed change, Americans have a source of information that is not almost totally controlled by the left.

I never thought to look at the figures during the Clinton administration. Do you know that includes the time during the Clinton years are the years that he cut down the military personal and enlistment. Those numbers are even higher percentage wise. Need to contact those idiots in Washington we voted for that notice has been posted and we are tired of the inflated ways that they distort the Bush White House as being brutal with our soldiers. I agree with Todd that one life is a tragedy, but compare to the Hitler Clinton, he's a saint.

This is very eye opening to say the least.

Thanks, Todd. I had seen that before, but not checked out the link - VERY valuable!

Now that she is losing The "Wicked Witch" now wants the results in Florida and Michigan to be counted in the delegate vote. She cant even wait for the full election before she starts cheating. If she wins you can guarantee there has been big time gerrymandering at the polls.

Statement by Senator Hillary Clinton on the Seating of Delegates at the Democratic National Convention

"I hear all the time from people in Florida and Michigan that they want their voices heard in selecting the Democratic nominee.
"I believe our nominee will need the enthusiastic support of Democrats in these states to win the general election, and so I will ask my Democratic convention delegates to support seating the delegations from Florida and Michigan. I know not all of my delegates will do so and I fully respect that decision. But I hope to be President of all 50 states and U.S. territories, and that we have all 50 states represented and counted at the Democratic convention.
"I hope my fellow potential nominees will join me in this.
"I will of course be following the no-campaigning pledge that I signed, and expect others will as well."
