I think that most people in states already know this message, but
let me take it up once again here.
About 80's, this message which is United Technologies Corporation's
institutional advertising was published to the Wall Street Journal.
Everytime i read this message,i can't stop crying.
this message is.

 We’re Gonna Miss Ya,Duke
When you came riding in to town,
varmints scrambled,
dance hall girls powdered their noses,
and yellow-bellies ran for the hills.

you ambled into our hearts,
stiffened our spines,
and made us stand taller.
From the sands of Iwo Jima
to the gates of the Alamo,
you taught us all a lesson.
Sure, your movies were play-acting,
But they showed that
our true strength is in our people.
The worker on the production line,
the fighting man,
truck driver,
waitress,
miner,
farmer,
nurse,
cowboy.
Wherever you're going,Duke,
roll yourself a smoke.
take a slug of whiskey,
lean back,put
a thumb under your suspenders
and take pride that you
tauht us
the meaning of true grit.
John Wayne gave more to America
than he took from America.
How many of us can say the same?

Add more information,
I do'nt know who wrote this message, but may be an advertising person done it.
In the advertising world, the collection of these message(aka Gray Matter)is so
famous as success example of the corporate advertising.

From 1979 through 1985,Harry Gray,the chairman of United Technologies,spearheaded
a Wall Street Journal advertising campaign, that generated over 5million letters and requests for re-prints.
the campaign consisted of 75 different full-page ads, Although each ad addressed
a different subjects, the under-lying theme was "How we perform as individuals will determine how we perform as a nation."

When this tribute for Duke is carried by a Wall Street Journal, this message is read around
immediately in the American Diet and says that it was recorded in the minutes.
Is it true?

I tried an online search of the Congressional record, but the online archive only goes back as far as 1993.

I will continue to see what I can find on this.

Thanks for sharing it - it is very touching!
