my other half is a big John Wayne fan and im trying to find a movie for him, but all i can remember of the movie was of the last line or so from the film that went ........."from now on, i wear the pants" or something like that.
i know this is very vague, lol, but it was a very long time ago and i would appreciate any help if anyone can recall the movie, please tell me its title.

Hondo Duke Lane August 9th, 2003, 04:18 PM lil_lady,
Welcome to the John Wayne board. This is the best John Wayne info you could ever find. If we don't know it, we'll find it.
The movie you are talking about is Donovan's Reef. I saw the movie the other day, and played the portion you mentioned. It costars Elizabeth Allen, and after Duke said that line, "...And I wear the pax in the family." He then took her over his knee and spanked her. It was an island movie with a comedy flair.
The movie came out in 1963 and costarred as well, Lee Marvin, Jack Warden, Cesar Romero. It is available on VHS and DVD. Some on this board like, some don't. Hope this helps out.
Please come and see us again.
Cheer, Hondo B)

dukefan1 August 10th, 2003, 12:59 PM Hello lil-lady and welcome to the group. After you surprise your other half with the movie, make sure you invite him to visit this board with you. The more the merrier. Hope to see ya both around! dukefan1

Let me add my Welcome to the ones you've already received!
I echo dukefan1's suggestion to get your husband over to this board! If he's a big John Wayne fan, he'll love it here. If you kind of like JW, this is something you can do together. My wife and I have become insufferable - er, oops, I mean inseparable  - since we've discovered this place. We have all kinds of fun, and it makes me sad for those who hang here who don't have family that share the passion. But as some have shared, this has become something of a family for them.
It's a friendly, knowledgeable group, and it beats hanging around bars! :D
. . . cheaper, too . . .

Robbie August 10th, 2003, 04:26 PM Chester as you are one of the origianl members of this board when did it start to really take off.

This board was started by Kevin in January, after he had some problems with a previous message board he oversaw (I don't know what those problems were, so please don't ask me). When he found this format for a message board, he realized it was much better, so changed over to it. The fact that I am member number 8 is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. I hadn't been particularly active on his previous board, more of a lurker really, but signed on to this one. As my and my wife's interest in the Duke increased (in part because of this board), we became more active here as time went by.
In retrospect, part of the taking off of this board was you, Robbie, with your provocative posts and interesting questions. Itdo came along shortly thereafter, if I remember correctly, and he has added immensely to this board with his incredible in-depth knowledge and experience. Of course there are those who have been a steady presence from the beginning or close to it, like Hondo Duke Lane, dukefan1, smokey, and baron von Rassilon (if we've forgotten to mention somebody, and we probably have, we apologize  , no slight intended . . . ). More recently, we've had the new blood like Brian B, General Sterling Price, Chisum, CHANCE, and of course Monique (what a spitfire!).
When doing a search on the Internet for John Wayne, this site and Kevin's main site (jwayne.com) show at the top, or close to it, which naturally brings many guests our way.
I hope that answers your question. This is just from the perspective and memory of my wife and I. Others probably can add more.
Chester :D
