a few years ago I talk to an other John Wayne fan called Jerry Hirsch. He tolds me. that was a Campain to name a US Warship "John Wayne". Did anyone knows about it ? Sorry for my bad English :)

John Wayne did launch a ship in the 70's I can't remember the name of it however. At the launch of the ship I'm talking about John Wayne was supposed to crack open the champagne and the ship was supposed to float into the water. Duke cracked open the champagne but the ship didn't float into the water so Duke goes over to it and literally leans on it and the ship starts floating into the water.
