View Full Version : Site Downtime (software upgrade)
Kevin June 22nd, 2008, 09:37 PM At some point in the next week I'll be updating the message board software to the latest greatest release version.
This upgrade will require some downtime to complete, and there will be some features that may have to be changed or done away with. One feature that might be affected by this is the photo gallery section, but this will not be known until the upgrade is performed.
Just posting this now as sort of a FYI. I'll post the exact time here in this thread when it's scheduled.
chester7777 June 30th, 2008, 09:47 AM I'm guessing the software upgrade hasn't taken place yet? Everything seems pretty much the same. We were pretty busy over the weekend and didn't know if we missed it.
NO pressure, just curious!

Kevin July 1st, 2008, 11:13 PM Nope, my weekend went in a completely different direction then planned. :hyper: I was gone all weekend.
Will try this upgrade sometime this next weekend, which should work better with it being a 3 day weekend for me.

Anything yet? I did notice one time over the weekend when I couldn't get on, and wondered if you were doing the upgrade.

Kevin July 12th, 2008, 01:06 PM Well, it hasn't happened yet but later today I'll be starting it. When I do start it, I'll have to close the site.
Kevin July 12th, 2008, 03:07 PM I have completed the upgrade! Everything SEEMS to be working correctly, but I would encourage everyone to report any errors that they come across. Please use this thread to report errors so that I can address them.
I'll be tweaking things over the next few days, so please be patient.
Thanks
Kevin July 12th, 2008, 03:09 PM Also, I have disabled the theme selector, and have reverted the board back to the default theme. A new look and feel for the site will be coming in the near future so stand by.
Kevin July 12th, 2008, 03:47 PM Some new features are added to this new update:
-New member profile page (http://www.dukewayne.com/member.php?u=2) featuring a friends option and a new social group (http://www.dukewayne.com/group.php) feature.
-New image gallery (http://www.dukewayne.com/album.php) for each member (existing photo galleries are not available so members will need to re-add images to the new gallery)
I also, turned back on the multi-quote option, which will allow members to quote several posts in a thread by simply clicking the little muti-quote image.

Thanks for the time and effort Kevin.
Hey and all the links still work!.
ethanedwards July 12th, 2008, 07:35 PM Hi Kevin,
In the Advanced post edit mode,
can you check out the font, sizes and colours,
It seems a little muddled, with the font and sizes OK,
but on the colours the drop down menu, seems not to work!

Hum, I see what you mean. I'll take a look at it.

This should be fixed now.
chester7777 July 13th, 2008, 12:56 AM Looking forward to a new old look.
It's good to see the banner at the top again!
I guess we'll have some fun exploring some of the new features.
Looking good, Kev!

ethanedwards July 13th, 2008, 04:28 AM Hi Kevin,
in the Quick Links drop down,
I notice the Top Posters(Day,Month, Overall etc) is missing,
is it somewhere else?

Yes, I'll have to re-add that feature.
Kevin July 13th, 2008, 10:28 AM The top poster feature is back. It has it's own link in the nav bar at the top.
Jay J. Foraker July 13th, 2008, 01:32 PM I like the new look! Way to go, Kevin, and thank you!
Cheers - Jay:beer:
kilo 6 July 13th, 2008, 03:33 PM looks great
Stumpy July 13th, 2008, 08:52 PM I like the new, old board better than the previous because it's so much easier to tell when you haven't read a post.
Kevin July 13th, 2008, 09:13 PM I'm liking this theme a bit better than the old. I may just tweak this theme and keep it. Defiantly easier to look at even with my eyes.
SXViper July 13th, 2008, 10:33 PM Looks good Kevin. Nice to come back after being gone a bit to see a nice looking "updated" change. Great work!!
dukefan1 July 14th, 2008, 01:35 AM Looks great to me. I wouldn't change very much with it. I like the colors.

ethanedwards July 14th, 2008, 05:51 AM Hi Kevin,
Where's the Quck Links menu gone from the top tool bar?
Thanks
Kevin July 14th, 2008, 06:44 AM The quick links should be back now.
ethanedwards July 14th, 2008, 08:41 AM Thanks, Kevin,
The things I've mentioned,
are all back working.
chester7777 July 14th, 2008, 10:15 AM Kevin,
I was just trying to post on an old thread (older than --- days) and it wouldn't let me post on it, and there was no check box to allow me to do so.
Just thought you'd want to know.
Things are looking real good around here. Have the FAQ been updated to include some of the new features? Are the FAQ included with the software, or do you have to write them?
We're still having fun discovering things.

I disabled old thread bumping, you should be able to post without restrictions.
ethanedwards July 14th, 2008, 07:20 PM Thanks Kevin,
That system always worried me, because of all the
older threads relating to Movies and 'Pals'
I thought, in the past it may have deterred members from posting,
as the litle 'tick' box was not easily noticable!
chester7777 July 16th, 2008, 11:08 AM I want to make folks aware that the FAQ (http://www.dukewayne.com/faq.php) (Frequently Asked Questions, for those who might not know) section has been updated to include information on some of the new features that are available since the new software upgrade. I strongly urge you to take a look and at least browse the topics for new stuff. I learned a few things this morning myself.

gt12pak July 16th, 2008, 10:54 PM Haven't had a chance to reply yet, but I kinda like the new look. A lot brighter.........ahhhh, that's better.
