I have scripts to "The Quiet Man" - "Wings of Eagles" and "The Searchers."

Maureen says just because it's in the script doesn't mean that it was ever shot an then "cut." She said Ford could look at the script and say immediately delete a scene or action. They get many copies of the script with re-writes and edits during a production. My script of "The Quiet Man" is a "shooting script" It has not only the lines - but camera angles and set instructions. Really interesting.

I get mine from "Script City" in Hollywood. Don't know if they are still in business but their prices were fairly reasonable.

Yes, one can only tell if the scene was really shot if there are photographs, stills surviving - like from that scene where Fitzgerald meets Bond and they discuss his betting habits. I'm not so sure about the very first scene in the movie: the little dialogue between an Irish mother and her kid and Sean in the train, where he is presented with an apple. Do you think, according to your script, it was shot? (Sean's holding an apple when he hits the train station would indicate this).

I love comparing the scripts to the final version. Because every time they're different you can imagine the director and his actors having a discussion right there on the spot to decide which way they want to go.

Juneface,
I would love to have a script of any John Wayne movie. I'll have to look around, it is something I have not really thought about.

Ooops, I think it would be quite a job for June to scan a whole script - they run for 120 pages you know. But I just checked out Script city, and: yes, they're sill in business (I used to buy scripts from MadMorgan.com - but THEY're not in business anymore, so thanks for that link). They have scripts from EL DORADO, REAP THE WILD WIND, ROOSTER COGBORN, RIO BRAVO, SHOOTIST for sale (photocopies, not the used ones, remember) at only 14 bucks.

June, if I'm not mistaking I think I read the portion in the December book of THE TRAIL BEYOND you did about Maureen, good job!

Thanks for info. I would like to get my hands on some of those scripts. I think McLintock!, and Rio Bravo would be great to have on hand. Thanks for the info, June.

BTW, June did Ms. O'Hara give you any of her old scripts? Doesn't have to be a movie with Duke.

Cheers, Hondo B)

Juneface,
You actually spoke to Maureen? That's exciting! I think she is such a neat lady. I did send her an email once, I hope she was able to read it. I can only imagine the amount of email she receives. Is it a book you wrote or interview?
