Here in Germany we know Oliver hardy only from the slapstick Movies Laurel and Hardy (Dick und Doof). Years ago I watch that great Movie an finally we get in here in June on DVD.

About the JW Movies, i was very intressted to trade some US DVD's or VCR. I have alot Original Movies (us language)on DVD and its not a problem to make any copys. Also I made my VD's from paytv self with duallanguage dt/us.

Let me know what you think of both questions.

I didn't really like the movie, I feel that it was a waste of Dukes talents and there was not enough action in it. However the film was pretty well made but in conclusion it was a little boring.

Viery,

The Fighting Kentuckian dealt with the story in a real Alabama town, called Demopolis. I live about 50 miles away from there. Even though the movie was probably not shot anywhere at that town, but in a studio, I enjoy the geography. The movie is slow, but I liked the chemistry between Duke and Hardy. They work well together. Wish they did other movies, but I think Hardy died a little later.

The movie is alright. Most on this board did not like Vera Ralston, and Duke didn't want to work with her ever again. She was not a actress, and had a very heavy accent that no one could understand her.

I have the movie on DVD, and got it at DeepDiscountDVD.com at $9.96 U.S. including shipping. I also have it on VHS.

Cheers, Hondo B)

The movie was a little slow, as others have indicated, but I too enjoyed the banter between the Duke and Oliver Hardy, and we enjoy the movie in general. It is one of John Wayne's lighter offerings.

One of our seven year old's favorite scenes is when the Duke says, "I think any more talking would be a waste of time," to which Oliver Hardy responds, "It surely would." Then they both swing their fists on the guy with whom they don't wish to waste any more time talking    .

I enjoyed the movie. It was a little off the normal John Wayne track, But I still enjoyed it.

Hey Viery!

I have "The Fighting Kentuckian" on DVD. I'm one of the few who really like the movie. I agree with Hondo that Wayne and Hardy would have been a great pair in another movie.
Hardy died eight years (1957) after "The Fighting Kentuckian" was made. Loss of a great talent. But still it would have been interesting.
