chester7777 August 20th, 2003, 12:22 PM For suggestion #1, I would like to inaugurate this new forum and say that for those of you who appreciate all the great changes and additions around here (like this :headbonk: - isn't it fun?), send an email to Kevin, thanking him and letting him know what a great job he is doing on this message board. Without a doubt, it is the best one on the web!!
THANKS, Kevin!!

The messageboard looks well, you did a good job.
Two suggestions however
1. I don't really like that message that appears when a message has been edited I find it a little uneccessary and cluttering.
2. Get rid of members whom go by the insulting name of 'what about the war John'

Robbie December 28th, 2003, 01:41 PM Hi Kevin
There seems to be a lot of pop up screens appearing as of late on this messageboard is there anything you can do about it.
:agent:
SXViper December 28th, 2003, 03:05 PM No popups for me :) And I wanted to say that I appreciate this forum alot as well, even though I am new to it. I find I am coming here more and more. Thanks.
Hondo Duke Lane December 28th, 2003, 11:13 PM Robbie,
We'll check with this, but you may have to check with your internet provider. I agree with SXViper, I haven't seen any popups on my site. Kevin's out right now, and I'll get with him concerning this issue.
Check with you provider.
Cheers, Hondo B)
P.S. Was the issue about your August 30th post here resolved? The one below.
"1. I don't really like that message that appears when a message has been edited I find it a little uneccessary and cluttering."
chester7777 December 29th, 2003, 02:16 AM Robbie,
We're not experiencing any pop-ups on this site, either.
Be happy you're even getting the web site. We've had tons of trouble lately, since we signed up for DSL. All kinds of conflicts, etc. My wife has spent hours in the past week on the phone with tech support people, trying to iron it all out. :( (She says that if you need to call support, try to go with the guys; sad but true, but the women just don't cut it as tech support people.)
Hondo's suggestion of checking with your Internet service provider sounds like a good one.

Kevin December 29th, 2003, 04:43 AM Robbie,
The site has no pop up ads on it. The only ads are the ones at the top right, and bottom of the page.
As for the "edited by" stamp that appears when you edit a post, I have no issue with it. That's just me and others may have a different opinion.
Kevin
chester7777 December 30th, 2003, 01:40 AM Kevin,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for no pop-up ads!!! It's one of the things I really appreciate about this site.
Robbie,
The "Edited . . . " message appears ONLY if the poster chooses it as an option; by default, it is not checked. Personally, I choose NOT to check that little box when I edit my posts.

Robbie December 30th, 2003, 01:50 PM I didnt mean to sound like a moaner but I will look into the popup screens.
I have one suggestion however, maybe a section of the messageboard could be added for new members to visit and understand the board. I remember when I joined it was only by chance that I came back.

chester7777 December 31st, 2003, 12:13 AM Robbie,
Hey that's a great idea! :D
Back before Kevin made "pinning a topic" possible, I remember making posts that
were directed towards visitors to make aspects of the board easier to understand.
After a week or two, they would scroll to the next page and were gone.
I also remember discussions between moderators with thoughts about having a
new visitor section, as you suggested, but no one followed through.
Thank you for bringing it back to our attention :headbonk:
Anyone with any ideas as to what might be good to have in this "New Folks"
orientation section, send them on in. We'll see what we can do to "put it together".

chester7777 January 1st, 2004, 01:37 PM Robbie,
Shows you how much I know about this message board. In exploring this morning, I decided to look at the Help link (see it up there, in the banner next to Search, Members, and Calendar?). After going there, I can see it answers just about any questions a newbie might have.
I do think a different suggestion would be to somehow bring more attention to that particular link, so that someone would notice it more readily. I agree with you that first-timers to this board sometimes have difficulty navigating if they have never used this type of message board before - it's different than most (but a much better format by far, in my opinion).
By the same token, they have to have enough interest to read the Help file to begin with, and the same would go for a Newbie-type forum. Frankly, after having looked over the Help document, I think most questions would be answered there. Check it out and see what you think.
Chester :newyear: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Robbie January 10th, 2004, 01:37 PM Me again to do another bit of moaning
A link button to the off topic discussion from the general discussion board would be good and vice versa.

Hey Robbie,
There's already a link to all forums at the bottom right of every page. It's in the form of a drop down menu, it should let you go directly to any available forum.

I meant to reply here sooner. Yes there is a link at the bottom of the page I never noticed it before. I hope I didn't come across as nitpicking and I want to pay tribute to this great site I really cant find a single flaw with it.
So thanks Kevin and all the moderators and to all the people whom partisipate in the always informative discussions.

I just noticed two members on the Messagebaord called 'Nathan Brittles' and 'nathan_brittles. Is there anything that can be done about this as it will be very difficult to differentiate between the two.

Robbie,
There is really nothing I can do about it short of taking the username away from one of them. I think people can see the distinction between the two. One has an underscore in the username.
If it becomes an obvious problem then we'll address it.
Thanks,
Kevin
