Unless I am mistaken, the intervention of Maureen happening in May 1979, in Washington in the hall of Congress (Congressional Gold Medal).
She insisted that the medal is engraved John Wayne with the simple words "John Wayne, American"
(I'd like a copy of the statement from Maureen ... rare moment and touching)
