View Full Version : What I am doing today --- enjoying etc
kilo 6 April 28th, 2009, 11:49 AM Hello All
I was thinking about a thread where members could share something about their life. It could be anything that you like and are doing.
Today I awoke a tad reluctantly, in as much as I wanted to get up fairly early and my body said that yesterday was a good energy drain and more sleep was desirable. My mind said I'm in charge. The dog at my feet has not taken his eyes off me because he knows part of me up early almost always mean 1/2 to an hour of walking. We do enjoy time outdoors. It would be hard to say which of us values our walks more.
One of our sons received an award for service to society last Saturday night and I phoned my parents to share that news. We are all feeling happy in seeing his sense of purpose recognized. The Atorney General of our Province was among the dignitaries present and as he recieved his thanks they had a short chat and it looked to me like they both enjoyed the moment.
Our hockey Team the Vancouver Canucks managed to win 4 games in a row to win the their first ( best of 7 ) playoff round. Considering I was in Town prior to the team assuming that name (70s) and they never swept a playoff round (win 4 straight) before and that we have never ever won the Stanley Cup, well pilgrims you could say there is a bit of a wind of excitement blowing down from the high country and in from the Sea. In smaller towns and all over the Cities people have car flags, and house windows have been painted with Canuck related thoughts. There are even flags on houses and people wearing Team Jersies. Go Canucks you are lifting the spirits of many.
Well Laddy (our Sheltie Collie cross) is waiting and I'm burning not only daylight but beautiful bright Sunshine. Hope this thread offers a place to say whats going on today in your life. take care murray
SXViper April 28th, 2009, 09:55 PM I woke up this am to my son, how do I say this, he was throwing up from the wrong end!! So I got to stay home with a ill child. Then when my wife came home I went for a 2 mile run. I am in training for a relay with my brother, we are running a 1/2 marathon relay in July. So I run 6.5 miles and he runs 6.5 miles. It is just about killing me!! That is what I have been up too lately.
kilo 6 April 30th, 2009, 10:07 AM Once again the dog awaits and the sun shines. I am at peace with the world ( so far  ) and with myself. It would sure be nice to have a Holiday at the end of this month, this is the peak of annual sales due to a Tsunami of bedding plants. Not having a Crystal ball I decided to guess that May 28th would be a good day to fly into the United States ( if they will have me ) and begin in that way, a 5 day exploration of Madison County. With that trip just weeks away now, I smile to think of the rest and interesting events to come. Whats is happening in your part of the world?
Stumpy April 30th, 2009, 10:23 AM Whats is happening in your part of the world?
My compadres and I are plotting to secede from what used to be the U.S.
erthomp143 April 30th, 2009, 10:59 AM Let's see... Over slept this morning so the kids got to school late, not to big of a deal, but man I hate being late. The down turn in the economy has affected my work load so money is REALLY tight right now. The good news is, I just finished a job and should be receiving the balance in a few days.
I am speaking at a men's seminar at my Church this weekend and I still need to work on my speaking notes. I have most of it completed, just some finishing touches left.
On the kid front they are all healthy and have recovered from the emotions of last week when we had to put our 12 year old Corgi to sleep... we will miss you Princess...
Stumpy April 30th, 2009, 11:47 AM we will miss you Princess...
Sleep well, Princess - you're in a better place.
SXViper April 30th, 2009, 08:01 PM Right now I am drinking a Captain and Coke. Damn big BLUE laid off another 250 people. It's getting to be a end of month ritual. I wonder why they don't just get it over with and lay off everyone they plan on laying off and let the rest movie on!! Damn corporate america!!!:martini_shaken:
Stumpy April 30th, 2009, 08:49 PM Damn corporate america!!!:martini_shaken:
I imagine the pols are much more at fault for the state of our economy than corporate America, Todd.
Ervserver May 2nd, 2009, 12:44 AM The sun is shining and I'm enjoying working in the yard, messing around in the garage

SXViper May 2nd, 2009, 02:33 PM I imagine the pols are much more at fault for the state of our economy than corporate America, Todd.
I see what you are saying. I just wish they would stop this once a month layoff trend we are in and get it done with so a person can move on. Whether it's to continue thier job or go look for a new one someplace.
chester7777 May 2nd, 2009, 05:06 PM Not having a Crystal ball I decided to guess that May 28th would be a good day to fly into the United States ( if they will have me ) and begin in that way, a 5 day exploration of Madison County. I just returned from several days away, working out of town. It is a very laid back day. Looking forward to seeing you in Winterset at the end of the month, Murray!

dukefan1 May 3rd, 2009, 11:29 PM Today was my birthday. Turned 47 but don't feel a day over 20....until I move, that is . Spent the day at home and relaxed. The wife got me a DVD of a Mini-series from the 70's that I had been searching a long time for. She cooked me home made Chicken Pot Pies (my favorite) and got me an Ice Cream cake. What a girl, I don't deserve her. Just don't tell her that.
Yesterday, I went to an 80th Birthday party for my Aunt Helen. I looked forward to it because my mother's side of the family had drifted apart after the death of her parents in the early 90's. My Grandparents were where the whole extended family gathered on special occasions and Holidays. When they passed, the family tended to just break up into their own gatherings. So, my Aunt's party was put together to bring us back together. I seen cousins and family members whom I havn't seen in 15 years. It was special, and many promises were made to keep getting together in the future.
So, it has been a great weekend. I'm sorry it had to end. :cry2:

SXViper May 6th, 2009, 09:58 PM Just got back from running 2 miles. I am training to run a relay with my brother for a 1/2 marathon. I run 6.5 miles and he run's 6.5 miles. Now that makes this 42 year old feel much older. Bright side is it is finally starting to get much much easier.
chester7777 May 8th, 2009, 12:33 PM Mark, I'm glad you had such wonderful birthday weekend!
My little "high" of the week was Wednesday evening. Our son is in the Majors division of Little League, and his team had lost quite a few games (they were often close games). They had a good practice Tuesday afternoon, and they had a REAL good game Wednesday evening. Even though our son's at-bats weren't particularly good, he did serve as a pinch runner in one inning and scored.
Then, much to my surprise, after our main pitcher finished pitching (he had reached his limit of 85 pitches), our son came in to pitch at the top of the 6th (last in Little League) inning. At that point, our team had a reasonably comfortable 11-6 lead (and the home field advantage), BUT our son hasn't pitched in a game in three years, since being in the farm division (unbeknownst to me, the coach has been having him practice pitching for the past couple of weeks)!
Anyway, I was understandably nervous, as a game can easily be lost due to poor pitching; I've seen it too many times. But the first pitch he threw was a strike! He looked so confident, he had really good form, and a beautiful side arm throw! I could hardly believe my eyes! At one point, the coach went and talked to him on the mound. All I could see was the coach's back; when he went back to the dugout, my son had a huge grin on his face. I wondered what the coach had said to him. By the end of his short stint, he pitched to 4 batters, for a total of 18 pitches. The first batter was put out at first. He put 3 runners on base, two of whom scored, before the coach replaced him. Despite all that, he looked real good. Anyway, the next pitcher faced three batters, but the needed outs were gotten, and we won the game!
We so needed that win! The kids had gotten kind of discouraged, but the win was a real shot in the arm, for all of us! I was so pumped after that - I felt almost giddy.
And . . . you might be wondering what it was that the coach said . . . as was I. Chris is known for telling jokes all the time (he's quite the entertainer), and the coach went out and asked him if he had any jokes he'd like to tell. Chris told him, "Not any short ones." The coach told him, "You owe me a joke. Oh, . . . and relax."
So . . . yeah . . . I'm still enjoying that!
Mrs. C :angel1: (scorekeeper for the SLV LL Majors Brewers)
P.S. Sorry for getting so long-winded . . .
Stumpy May 8th, 2009, 03:51 PM My youngest grandson pitches in LL.
His dad (my youngest son) was also a LL pitcher and his teams nearly always won.

badger May 11th, 2009, 11:26 AM can someone tell me why saturday and sunday go so much faster than monday and tuesday? went for a swim this morning before work ( our local pool opens at 7 and there are always the same 6 or 7 people there at that time). monday is always the busiest day of the week at work but it always puts everyone in a better mood when the sun is shining (which it was today)
just taken our jack russell for a walk through the fields - you have to time the walks carefully as later in the evening the cows seem to wander out into the lane and, although everyone says they are more scared of you than you are of them, i m never brave enough to walk through them. tea is on for the family, and after tea there is homework to sort and football on tv. it is the exciting part of our season with all the play offs and promotion and relegation battles....
kilo 6 May 11th, 2009, 01:41 PM Hello All
The two weeks prior to mothers day are the peak of the potted plant / cut flower sales year. Happy mothers day to all members who are and all the mothers of members and pretty much all mothers everywhere. May 3rd 24 years ago I was fortunate and was married that day. May 5th a son became twenty. May 7th my parents had their 62nd anniversary. May 8th a daughter was 22 and her sisters graduation ceremony happened. There is a provincial election on and a neighbor asked me to canvass for the Canadian cancer society because someone could not do their area, and it was supposed to be done May 1st. Today and yesterday I am breathing and trying to rest up a little but work starts at 1;30 sigh.
Sorry to hear about your friends Erthomp and Smokey They have returned to the earth and yet they live on in many hearts, you have placed your words of their passing on the Internet on this board. Who amongst us has never loved a non human friend.
Chester I have not been on the board for some time. I am very happy to read that we will meet in Winterset. I am coming with a cousin from a family farm in Alberta. Spring planting was delayed this year due to abnormal weather and he was not sure if he could make it. Looks like he can so there will two Canadians coming into Town -- nice. Is anyone else joining us? I would appreciate hearing about it, if they are. take care all you great people good luck with lay offs SX they should be so lucky to have you . murray
smokey May 16th, 2009, 02:09 AM thanks guys

Duke_Wayne May 19th, 2009, 11:16 PM Sorry Smokey...
We recently had to put down our 12 1/2 year old Chow. I've never had a more loyal pet & still haven't gotten over the grief. She literally grew up with our children. I'd like to say that the pain goes away, but so far it hasn't for me...
SXViper May 20th, 2009, 08:12 AM I am currently in a class for work in Atlanta. Happy to be here and have a job!!
Hondo Duke Lane May 24th, 2009, 09:03 AM I am working my business very hard right now. I have been talking to many people trying to figure a way to help them, but like everything, it's about time and money. Still trying to solve that one.
As for the project I am currently working on right now, it is some landscaping. We had a half dozen trees cut down last fall. Some were dead due to drought, and open the yard to more sunlight, which means trying to get some grass to grow, and some of this revived.
Going to St. Augustine next weekend to a regional convention for business. Anyone want to go. love to have you.
Cheers  Hondo
SXViper May 27th, 2009, 11:35 PM Right now I am catching up on the forum. Heading back to Atlanta at the end of the month. Thinking about my coming weekend, I have my grandparents 70th wedding anniversary. I am also thining about if I won the lottery!! hehehe!!
dukefan1 May 28th, 2009, 09:46 AM God bless your Grandparents, Todd. 70 years of wedded bliss. My Grandparents made it to 72 years before my Grandmom passed. I hope to make it 70 years married. I will if I add all three marriages together.

I must confess that I'm kind of old-fashioned about marriage - the wife and I will celebrate our 50th next year (provided we live that long). I give all the credit for this to my wife, who's definitely a keeper (and who has probably the warmest, most loving and forgiving personality of anyone I've ever met. She even forgave a brief affair I had at about our 8th year of marriage.)
When we got married in November 1960, I was one of the world's worst sexists (thanks to my old grandpappy as a role model). But over the years I've mellowed and learned to heed my wife's opinions. I figured it was either me changing or I'd lose my wife and I sure didn't want to do that.
IMO, the pols have made it entirely too easy to divorce nowadays. This is not intended as criticism of you, Mark, but some people change spouses like they change their clothes. (And BTW, my mother was one of 'em - she was married four times; twice to my father.)
dukefan1 May 28th, 2009, 10:22 PM No offense taken, Stumpy. I was too young the first time and too stupid the second. My third marriage has been a blessing. I have been with her for 18 years now and married for the last 11. I agree that it is too easy to get out of a marriage, or even into one. I council my children on this using me as a model. But they see what a good marriage can be also, thanks to my loving wife.

etsija June 18th, 2009, 12:09 PM Greetings from Yellowknife, it's as nice as it was the last time I visited, 11 years ago. It's wonderfully warm now - I even prefer bugs to cold. Wood Buffalo National Park has been the most interesting place; there I came to look into the eyes of a bear and a buffalo at a few yards distance. I surprised the buffalo, the bear surprised me, but nobody attacked and nobody ran.
chester7777 June 18th, 2009, 10:05 PM Wow, etsija! It sounds like you are having a GREAT time (and quite exciting, too!).
Were you able to get any pictures of your 'visitors'?
How warm is it, 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle? (We hit about 90º F today, in our neck of the woods!)

SXViper June 18th, 2009, 10:16 PM Well we were dodging tornados last night. Tonight is still very muggy but all the active weather went north. We should get a full nights sleep tonight.
ZS_Maverick July 14th, 2009, 10:04 PM Writing comedy for my first stand-up comedy gig in 10 years! I got invited to be a part of a comedy show at the same theater we presented my western last year. I haven't done it in a while, so wish me luck! The show is next weekend!
So far I think I have a pretty good set, most of it I like, but I'm still struggling with the opening lines! It's all about being a cowboy in Dallas! (For those of you who are not from Texas, Dallas is a part of Texas according to the map, but once you get there, you wouldn't know it! Part of my bit is about some guy with pink and blue hair, tattoos, and more facial piercings than a voodoo doll, looking at my cowboy hat and boots, and saying, "Dude, you're strange!")
There's also a nod to The Duke in my act; after trashing Dr. Phil (a fellow Texan I hate!), I go into a bit about a real Texas cowboy, ex-marine, Doctor named Dr. Duke who handles the wackos in a much different way!
Anyway, I'm trying to finish up that opening bit, so wish me luck!
Lt. Brannigan July 14th, 2009, 10:21 PM I would love hear a recording of this act. It sounds like a riot. Anyway good luck with your gig and don't forget my 10%!
Jay J. Foraker July 15th, 2009, 12:07 AM Good luck, ZS - Hope your presentation is a riot!!!
chester7777 July 16th, 2009, 04:13 PM Wow! Count us in for giving you best wishes on your act! We sure wish we were more 'local' so we could attend . . . .

Hondo Duke Lane July 18th, 2009, 04:17 PM I am in the process of extending our patio, and putting in pavers and a wall. Great work and project, but the roots from our trees are a killer. Wish we were doing something else right now. It is pretty hot and humid, and the ole shovel is getting a work out, but it is coming along. Hope to get it done by the end of the month.
Cheers

Lt. Brannigan July 23rd, 2009, 05:14 PM I just got finished editing last Sunday nights sermon for the pastor. Got it down from 36 minutes to just under 30.
ZS_Maverick July 26th, 2009, 02:07 AM Well, I did my stand-up comedy act, Friday night and Saturday night, and It went very well!
It was an all comedy show, with 4 of us doing stand up comedy mixed in with several skits. I did a couple of skits, one, portraying a James Cagney style gangster in a parody of "American Idol' (The skit was called "Hit Man Auditions", and I was one of the Judges) and one called 'Interrupters Anonymous", Which was a parody of the 12 step programs (The title says it all, it was complete chaos, sort of a modern version of something the Marx Brothers would do).
But the highlight; I got to do stand-up comedy for the first time in about 10 years, and, as they say in the comedy world, I killed!
There was one comedian who is much, much, much, funnier than I am, but unfortunately, his material was aimed at a Dallas night club audience (i.e. big city drunks!) while the small town crowd related better to material based on my Cowboy/Country Music background.
It was a very good weekend! I may have the stand-up comedy bug again!
didisha July 26th, 2009, 03:42 AM To-day, I am doing to arrange flat listening classical music! It is a sunny day in France!!!
chester7777 July 26th, 2009, 08:53 AM ZSMaverick, glad to hear your performance went so well! I'm sure I would have enjoyed it immensely. Congratulations!

Yep, The director had his wife record both shows, I think. I know Saturday night's show was recorded, I hope Friday nights was as well, we had a much better, more responsive crowd that night. But, I should get a copy in a few weeks, I'll keep you informed on that.
Meanwhile, you can go to www.redrivertheatre.com (http://www.redrivertheatre.com) and check out photos (I don't know how long it will take them to post them) Go to that sight, on the navigation menu click photo galleries. If they'e not up yet, check out the photos from "Shooting Sundown", the Western comedy I got to do last year. I'll let you know about the comedy video.

kilo 6 August 8th, 2009, 10:51 PM Hello All
Today among other things I rooted around in our freezers and brought out a pork bone with some meat left on a chicken we had enjoyed most of and added garlic onions spices and let it simmer for hours. The smell alone was worth the time and it hit the spot. I also watched two movies on the life of Geronimo. Seems to me that healing in a society divided by war takes generations not decades and yet we still find it ongoing. I wish all members whatever peace the circumstances of their lives will allow. take care
smokey August 10th, 2009, 12:53 AM today the little bloke went on a school trip to the national capital (Canberra) he will be getting back friday night. it is a filled trip they are going to different places each day and take a trip around sydney harbour on the friday. am proud of him as this is his first trip without family with him.

smokey August 19th, 2009, 10:45 AM we now have 2 more family members, we have adopted 2 adult cats (brother and sister), the little bloke is happy with them both and they have settled into the family quite well. their names are huggles and gremlin, gremlin has taken to alec and gets his nose out of joint if huggles goes and sits on his lap, gremlin is suppose to be the shy one but not with alec they are a match made in heaven.

smokey August 31st, 2009, 11:27 AM i am thankful that i chose to take my little man out of his previous school as at his new school they have found out why he has such difficultiyes with English, it turns out he is an audio learner not a visual learner so now we have to learn new ways to help him to over come this new hurdle but all is good now i know what is wrong.

kilo 6 October 9th, 2009, 10:21 AM Well it's all right Double E I did not say we should do it in Winter. These things require some time, yet we all know that sometimes you have to do things in order for other things to happen. How about renting a bus for a European tour and we visit some members along the way. I am doing reasonably well. Well the suinrise is coming on line and I am going to saddle up. Ride on
Stumpy October 9th, 2009, 03:55 PM I've been listening to a lot of Old Blue Eyes this P.M. - damn, why don't they make singers like that anymore?

Hi Murray, I'm curious - is everyone in western Canada rich? The reason I wonder is that yesterday, just for the heck of it, I was browsing real estate prices in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver and discovered that asking prices for 1600 square feet condos or bungalows were 400 thousand and up.
Reminded me of housing prices in California (before the bust).

smokey,
We know you're a hard worker! Things are sure to go your way!
Regarding what I was doing today . . . well, I was especially well-fed today, being that it was my birthday. Started out with homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, lunch was more of those biscuits with some leftover turkey gravy, then dinner was roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus, and acorn squash stuffed with apples and walnuts, followed by German chocolate cake (baked by my 13-year old son). Top all that off with a viewing of one of my favorite JW movies, Sands of Iwo Jima, and it was a great day!

I've got a new Dell with Windows 7 ordered. 6 gigs of RAM and 500 gig HD.
I didn't order a new monitor though as I have a 22-incher that's only a couple of years old and they usually outlast the PCs themselves by a few years.

Stumpy December 16th, 2009, 10:57 PM I went today and renewed my driver's license, which expires 5 January.
I was worried about passing the eye test as my vision has deteriorated markedly due to cataracts I've developed over the past couple of years. I think the examiner gave me a break on the vision test. She had me repeat the numbers a couple of times but after the second time she said okay without commenting on my obvious missed calls, took my picture and issued me a temporary license until DPS sends me a permanent (or rather an extended) license good for 5 years. Whew - close call.
I can still see fairly well for a distance but my close-up vision is getting pretty chancy.
Two or three months ago I went for my annual eye exam and the doctor said my cataracts hadn't gotten much worse than last year but that he would schedule me for cataract surgery if I wanted it. At first I thought about going ahead and having it done but changed my mind after hearing the cost, which would be around 7 thou for both eyes.
Medicare (substitute taxpayers for Medicare) would pay almost all the costs but I figure I only have a few more years left anyway and didn't want to saddle the taxpayers with that expense. Also, during the pre-op exam, they show you a video which kinda explains the process and it said that although it's a very rare occurrence, sometimes people lose their vision completely after the operation. I thought to myself "why take the chance".
Anyway, that license renewal was my biggest event that took place today.
chester7777 December 17th, 2009, 01:15 AM Well, I hardly enjoyed it . . . but I discovered that our turtle tank was down about 3-4 gallons (it's only holds 10 gallons) overnight. He obviously hadn't drunk the water, and I discovered the filter was backed up and was overflowing over the side. It was nasty, but I was thankful the tank itself wasn't leaking. So now Kirby, our red-eared slider, has a nice new clean tank with new water after two hours of work. Once I finished that I moved on to the 25 gallon gold fish tank, which had also gotten pretty nasty. That only took about an hour and a half.
But they are much nicer to look at now.
Regarding the drivers license renewal, coincidentally I went down and renewed mine about a month ago. It went fairly smoothly. I also had to take care of some car registration fees, that had late fees, for a total of $250. This is a case where being friendly with the DMV ladies pays off.
After typing away furiously for a couple of minutes, she looked up at me and said, "That'll be $52, please." Wow, you can bet the old checkbook flew out of my pocket pretty doggone fast!

Are ya gonna move out into the boonies, Todd? Is your land still located in or around Plainview, or elsewhere in Minnesota?
Something that has always puzzled me - how did an employee of Big Blue land in a small community like Plainview?
SXViper December 28th, 2009, 02:29 PM Our land is about 6 miles south of us on the outskirts of an even smaller town called Elgin, MN. So our kids will not be changing schools and we don't have to have big moving trucks or anything as drastic as that.
As far as an employee of Big Blue living in a small town. I do service for them so I don't need to be at a IBM location to do my work. That being said, my office is located at the IBM Rochester, MN location and that is about 22 miles from where I live in Plainview. IBM Rochester is the home of IBM's largest facility under 1 roof, there are bigger sites but the building in Rochester is the biggest under 1 roof. There claim to fame is the Sys 36, 38 and AS/400 systems and related software. Our new home will actually be closer to Rochester.......We used to live in Rochester but we wanted to raise our kids in a small town and you get more of a house for alot less once you move out of the Rochester, MN vicinity.

Hondo Duke Lane December 28th, 2009, 09:03 PM I've been cleaning out my office for the new year. This is big, because it is the time I've been waiting for a few years now. I am about to get rid of a job and start my career in the next few months, so I can get out of this rat race of being in a job (just over broke). It's an aggressive move, but it is one that will pay big dividens when I get through in a few days. I have been buying things like a politician, and now I must pay the piper (unkike a politian). Anyway, here goes 2010 and the changes that will happen.

SXViper December 28th, 2009, 11:28 PM Hey Hondo, good for you......
As far as my move goes, it will be awhile, we still have to sell our house and then build the new house. So it will be at the very least 6 months from now, Probably more like 8-10 months to be realistic.

Have the day off from work but will be working at our new house. Only about 2 weeks left before our closing and then we begin the long process of moving in..............
Todd, we're so glad to hear that your 'project' is progressing! We wish you the best!
having a good day at home went out for lunch with all the family
That wouldn't have been a little birthday gathering, now would it?? :cake:
Hondo Duke Lane July 4th, 2010, 10:51 AM A nice break for the day. Church and then get ready for the family to have dinner on the 4th. May watch the local fireworks tonight, and a day off for tomorrow doing some outdoor projects. Happy 4th of July!

Cindyrella July 17th, 2010, 09:44 AM Smokey, I have not heard about the pervert over there but I am certainly glad they caught him. We have so many here they could totally take up the entire news time just listing them. My life was deeply scared by such evil men beginning when I was 6 years old and there has been no end to them attempting to assualt me throughout my life, only now, I carry protection, Duke style!
Now as for what I am doing today...I am taking a day to make some necklaces because I received an order for 7 yesterday. Normally I would be at my sisters helping to take care of our mother. Selling my jewelry keeps me in enough gasoline to get back and forth and buy some gifts to spoil my Moody...I call her that some times, not sure why.
Sorry I am never here anymore. Ask any of my friends that know me and they will tell you that there's only one person I will put before all others and that is my dear Mommy...She was 17 when I was born, so I raised her...lol.
I really love all of you here and miss the times that I spent here when I could on a regular basis...Just happy you are still here when I do get a chance to come back.
Much love,
Cindyrella

I've always tolerated cold better than heat but this past week was a bit much for these old bones. I was actually saying I wish summer, or even spring, would come to life.

kilo 6 February 18th, 2011, 08:15 AM parenting is the gift that never ends and is a mutual opportunity for child & parent to feel and demonstrate, grow with and learn from love for each other. It's a lucky person who is a part of this relationship when the heart and hands are working together. perhaps the glue that welds society into a viable whole. DNA is primal and love is the best byproduct of all that we are, can be and all that our ancestors have learned and passed on. Walk tall brother we all share in your joy. murray

SXViper February 19th, 2011, 08:59 AM After averting a disaster this week( long story short, we had warm temps which started melting the snow rapidly and I had a drain tile in 1 or our egress windows clog up and the pit filled up with water, we had water just come up to the window and get into our basement, damp but not soaked carpet and the drywall is ok), I will be taking it easy. I do have to work this evening but I will get a day off next week. Maybe I will try and put up a ceiling fan....the joys of home ownership!!!
kilo 6 April 2nd, 2011, 11:59 AM Hello All We have had some Spring and some late Winter weather. Today the wind runs through the trees like a grandparents hand ruffs the hair as it touches a grand child's head in a moment of demonstrated love.
Hondo Duke Lane April 3rd, 2011, 10:25 PM Saturday, was a fantastic day. The weather was perfect and the yard work long. My body is telling me that Saturday night. Sunday was what it was suppose to be, a day of rest. I went to church as an usher, and we celebrated Holy Comunion which we do every first Sunday of each month. The crowds were low, but not too surprising since I usher the 11 am service and most of the people were went early to enjoy the weather.
Monday, back to work but will be going to sign up a new partner that evening, which will get me a much needed bonus in commisions. It is getting better. Really need to talk to my UK buddies about something special. Hope to talk to you soon.
Cheers  Hondo

ZS_Maverick April 17th, 2011, 09:20 PM Well, looks like I’m writing another Western….a sequel to a play we did for the Red River Theatre Company three years ago called “Shooting Sundown”. When the play closed I told one of the theatre directors about an idea I had for another story. I had put it aside and forgotten about it, and thought that they had too! Then, this weekend the guy asked, “Where’s our play?” I had to promise to start working on it as soon as I could!
It’s a Western-Comedy-Murder Mystery! This one involves the main character from the last one, Layne “Sundown” Robbins, who’s now “the cowboy detective”; the owner operator of the “Sundown Detective Agency”. His first major case is to solve a series of murders on a Mississippi River Boat”
The working title is “Muddy Water”.
Wish me luck!
dukefan1 April 17th, 2011, 10:22 PM Good Luck! Please do keep us updated.

Harry comes across to me as a person who doesn't take himself, or his position, too seriously. Unlike his father who, in my humble opinion, is an egotistical, narcissistic A-S-S.
