The April 8, 1938 Movie "Hell Town" was also called "Born to the West". I bet you didn't know that it was written by Zane Grey.
;)
"Frontiier Horizon" was released September 7, 1939 with the other title "New Frontier." This was done after done after his hit "Stagecoach."
"The Man from Utah" was made released on May 23, 1934 with Geroge "Gabby" Hayes and Yakima Canutt (he was a great stuntman of the time, who did a lot of stunts in John Wayne movies). I don't have any other title listed for that movie.
"The Telegraph Trail" released March 29, 1933. I don't have any other listed as well.
"The Lonely Trail" released November 3, 1936. No other title.
:D
I hope this will help out. It's good to see these titles and read about them again. I used the book, "The Complete Films of John Wayne" by Mark Ricci, Boris and Steve Zmijewsky. This is a great guide for all his movies from "Mother Machree (January 22, 1928) to "The Shootist" (August, 1976). That 152 movies total of over 48 years.
:D
Happy Viewing

Chris,
These were considered "B" movies, and they were considered Saturday afternoon matinees for cheap movies especally during the great depression to escape the daily life of the world. I bet most of those people in their 70's and 80's remember duke best from those movies before he made it big time.
I'd love to be there during that time to enjoy the original opening of some of those movies. That would have been great.
Thanks again Chris for a time to go back and read these, it has been a while.

While cruising through Ebay recently, I stumbled upon 4 DVDs in something called "The Young Duke series" with what appeared to be John Wayne movie titles I'd never heard of. After a little research, I discovered that all the "new" titles are old movies with new names.
Here I will list first the familiar name, then the "new" name -
Winds of the Wasteland / Stagecoach Race
Paradise Canyon / Cowboy G-Man
The Dawn Rider / Avenging Angel
Desert Trail / On the Run
The Trail Beyond / Klondike Gold
The Star Packer / The Shadow Gang
Randy Rides Alone / The Drifter
The Man from Utah / Rodeo Racketeers
Blue Steel / Bandits of the Badlands
West of the Divide / Next of Kin
Lucky Texan / The Claim Jumpers
Sagebrush Trail / The Fugitive
There may be more in this series, but this is all I've found so far.

Alan Ladd unfortunately never made a movie with the Duke it is a typing error that has went on for many years.
