Greetings

If memory serves me right, I believe that The Shepherd of the Hills was Duke's first color film. And yes, he did make black and white films after this one.

Was Back to Bataan made in B&W and coloured later, as I recall a colour version came out before it was popular to colourize older B&W movies.

Shepherd of the Hills is indeed his first color film, and he did make B&W films after that as well. He started making color films with more frequency starting right about 1954. His last two B&W films were The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and The Longest Day.

Just to confirm "Shepherd Of The Hills" was his first movie in colour and "In Harms Way" was his last movie in black and white.

Lt. B, you definitely do NOT look stupid! All of you confirm what I so often say - we are a knowledgeable group, and very few questions go unanswered around here.

Great job, everybody - and THANKS!

I do have to say you are a very diplomatic person, Chester. I suppose I should state this even though I hope it's obvious.. That statement was never meant to be taken seriously.

Hi

Besides being his first coloured film it was also Henry Hathaways first film in colour and the first time Duke had worked with Hathaway.

And, unless I am mistaken, it was the first time he appeared on film with his silver screen hero, Harry Carey.
