I can only remember 2 of the 5 (The Alamo and The Sands of Iwo Jima). Any help with the other 3 would be appreciated.

dcm965,

WELCOME!! You've come to a great place to hang out with John Wayne fans, those who love the Duke and know plenty about him.

John Wayne actually died in 8 films, and in a ninth (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance), his character is dead at the beginning of the movie, but is shown throughout the movie through a major flashback, before he dies. So in that one, we don't actually see him die.

The other 8, in no particular order, are -

the two you already mentioned

The Alamo
The Sands of Iwo Jima

and

The Cowboys
Reap the Wild Wind
The Shootist
Central Airport
Fighting Seabees
Wake of the Red Witch

I hope you'll be a regular here!

Very good, Chester.

You're learning, and maybe I have finally taught you something.

dcm965, it's good to have you on the board. You have found the right place for almost any answer about Duke than any other place on earth. Chester was quiet right, there were 9 movies. And his list is correct. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Have a great Labor Day holiday.

Cheers, Hondo B)

Thanks to all that helped with my question.

I have another question....

Is Hondo out on DVD? I have the VHS but want the DVD.

Thanks in advance.

Dave,

No. Hondo is not out on DVD, yet. I'm also looking for it to be released soon. I, like you, have that movie on VHS. There were rumors of a late in the year release or early next year, but Batjac Productions, has made no official announcement as of today. As soon as I get the word, I'll pass it on to the board for all to see. Believe me, I am staying on top of this, and want this as much if not more than anyone else.

Thanks for asking, it's always good to have info out for the board to read.

Cheers, Hondo B)
