Kevin and the moderators have been discussing setting up a New Years chat time for everybody, and thought January 1st might work.

What do y'all think?

Noon on the West Coast of the US is the same as

9 AM on the East Coast of the US

8 PM in the UK

6 AM in Australia

5 AM in Japan

I know it's a little early for H.Sanada (Japan) and smokey (and others, in Australia), but it seems largely like waking hours for almost everybody.

Any thoughts as to exact time?

Chester

9 a. m. New Years Day? On the East Coast? Hmmmm. I do know I'm working on New Years Eve. Celebrating that night. Hopefully, if you good people will have me, I might be able to catch up.

I suspect one or more of our moderators, along with Kevin, will be hanging out for several hours. That time frame seemed to allow participation from as many members as possible. If we have a six-hour "Open House" chat, where folks drop in as they are able, you can still be sleeping at 9 AM. We'll just look for you a little later!

About tomorrow . . . we're looking forward to joining folks in the chat room between noon and 6 PM Pacific Standard Time (which translates to 8 PM to 2 AM Greenwich Mean Time).

I was obviously suffering some sort of brain freeze when I posted the above time conversion . . .

Noon on the West coast translates to 3 PM on the East coast :headbonk: . . . . So now you better be there!

P.S. The other times ARE correct.

I'll be in and out (mostly out). Family visits have been planned at the last minute for this afternoon. :omg: I'll try to visit the chat room when I can.

While there was never a big crowd at any one time, I did have the pleasure of chatting today with CHANCE, luckynedpepper, Elly, ethanedwards, and Chris. It's always fun getting to know folks a little better! I look forward to chatting again in the future!

I never understood why it only happens once a year?

I would have thought the chat room would be much more popular than it is all year round

I did manage to get there for a while and have a chat with Chester & Mrs (in background) 3rd time lucky.

Hey, don't give up! ANY time you're on, if someone is on you'd like to chat with, send 'em a quick PM and invite them to join you in the chat room! I'm real sorry we missed you, we'd have enjoyed the opportunity to hang out with you for a while!

A "formal" chat happens just a few times a year because we try (I emphasize try) to have someone there for most of the time. I know I feel a greater obligation to 'be there' for as much of the time as possible, so someone like ShortGrub doesn't end up out in the cold, with no one to chat with. Though I was not there for a couple of hours yesterday (we had a commitment to be at a friend's house), I definitely spent more time on the computer yesterday, chatting, than I normally would. I was chatting from our friend's computer and also trying my best to be a part of the event where I physically was. I know usually Kevin is on most of the time when we have a chat, but he had last-minute obligations that prevented it yesterday.

In any case, we'll do it again . . . and ShortGrub, I'll be looking for you next time !

Kevin and myself were on there most of the day, UK time,
and then again in the early hours of the morning.
